Building a business in a deadline, possible?

Is simple bro. You want a career in IM? Ok. Why? To make lots of money and live in a nice house and be worry free? What's the main reason? Once you have a reason, a good real reason (goal), ask yourself how can I get there? Build a path follow trough. Nothing works right from day 1, you gotta build it.

My IM goal is to fund my projects, which I would need around $20k USD to go and make my prototypes and from there everything would fall in place as I know these prototypes have BIG potential.

I've been in IM for 1+ year and I haven't given up as my goal is big :)

My overall plan is this:

Reach $20k. Build prototype. Go and seek investors. Bank big time.

Seems easy, but I can't even get to $20k nor $100 a month :D

I follow Parkinson's Law whenever I take on a new project. "Work expands as to fill the time available for it's completion". If you set a 2 month deadline, that's how long its going to take. If you set it to 1 year, that same project is going to take 1 year.

That being said, there's already been some great suggestions given so far. If you're stuck on going for an authority site, research some minor competition long tail keywords and put them at the bottom of your silos. These will start ranking right away if you did your keyword research correctly. Monetize those pages and use that money to purchase more backlinks for larger volume keywords up higher in your silos.

Its possible with the right info and lots of action!

Think of it this way, can you find 10 people every month that would pay you $100 for X?

Of course you can, the question is, what do people NEED that they would pay you $100 for month after month?

Give them value and they will give you monies. Most people try to sell crappy products and make a quick buck, then have to start again and find new customers. Don't be like them, find a need and offer value.

Yep, I got that right :)
Actually you digged out one of the strategies I am planning to use :)
That and some "satellite sites" to churn and burn to keep my authority site alive :)

Yep :o
That's exactly what I have in mind in doing with my authority site, give what they want BUT offer them to know MORE about it by buying my stuff. (hehe may not sound "complete", but you get the idea)

I feel you with the motivation problem. Sometimes I wish IM was tangible, like building a house, because to be honest this is all imaginary (in a way).

The way I think about it, don't aim for money; like $100 a day or what ever... Get rid of that mentality, its not constructive. Aim for a non-monetary achievement, like one new client every week for a month... build one new website every week for a month... get page 1 for one keyword every week for a month..

And within those targets, break it down into mile stones.

This is what I do:

I'm not an organised person, but I use excel to plan everything, so I barely have to think! :)

The internet lives 24 hours every day, why cant you do both?

Anyway if you want to make some quick $$$ go with churn and burn with some affilate programs. Amazon pays very little and usually does not get you the money you want until you are an authority so find a topic you LOVE and then find products that match your interests.

If you are a tennis nut then create a niche tennis site and find affiliate products related to your niche such as athletic training programs and gear/equipment. Churn and burn and see if you get some conversions. Usually it takes some time AFTER you are getting traffic to decide what is converting best for you. So 2.5 months is slim, 1st you have to create the site and fill it with content, then you have to rank it, then you have to see if you are getting hops, then you have to see if the hops are converting, then you have to test and tweak.

If you have a few hundred dollars to spend you can shorten the time involved but to me 2.5 months still is a bit of a short time to see results.
