I just did a search on google for "variation in serps depending on browser" and it does throw up some interesting articles.
These articles don't seem up to date but they will point you in the right direction.
Woow! Really interesting! I just read the first post and decided to give it a shot signing in my Google acc in IE. It showed the exact same results as in Chrome! So it depends if you are signed in Google, or not and stuff like that, but really doesn't depend of the browser.
Thank you that really helped me to understand what it was about.
PS: I erased the links in the quote because bhw sent me a notification that it was spamming for not being a member long enough
Try using Incognito in Chrome and "Private Window" in Firefox - they'll throw the same results.
might be personalized search too. if that is on, a site you've been to a lot will start to show up near the top.
