Browser Hack - Make any web page editable!

So you want to prove you are number 1 in Google? - No problem.
You want to show AdSense earnings of $1m, sure thing!

Maybe you just want to mess around with a popular site - then just follow the simple instructions below:

1) Head over to the web page you want to edit.
2) In the browser?s address bar, paste this code:

Code:
javascript:document.body.contentEditable='true'; document.designMode='on'; void 0

3) Now click on the part of the page you want to edit and start changing, deleting and adding text.

Disclaimer: This is not mine, this is from Phil Benwell of Internet Student. I just thought I share this on this great forum.

Now, Is there anybody want to share some ideas on how to make it useful....please share.

Great share.

Perhaps you can get some traffic if you edit a well known site (take a screenshot) and do a blog post reporting that the site has been hacked. Submit your breaking news to digg.

Just an idea.

Hahahahha! This is amazing.. Does this still work. I wana pull some strings on this

lol thnx, it worked on this exact page so it should work on others as well :D

edit: damn, you can also edit the SERP's rofl. nice to take some screenshots :p

Do whatever you want but please don't hack BHW. It is a vital life support to thousands :)

Oh common... this is my home... besides it can't even work here.

What can this actually be used for other than personal entertainment.

Hum, you do realize you can only edit the page on your side?

EDIT: Seems like yes, but just to be sure... :D

Okay, maybe it wasn't obvious. This is not a hack, but merely a script to modify a page on the client side -- yours, in other words.

right click then select "view page source".... then click the hyperlinked css files

absolutely nothing. what a stupid bump.
Well, I don't know about 'absolutely nothing'...

Maybe not many legitimate uses for it, but...

one thing you can use these type tricks for is changing earnings and traffic stats on reporting pages. Useful for screenshots giving proof of earning for sales pages and the like.

I'm not really recommending anyone do things like that, but if you need something like that then it can definitely have some uses.

Thanks for sharing a trick which was invented 10 years ago
