What kind of speeds do you get outside of Bulgaria? I was looking at some providers in Bulgaria a few months ago, and it seemed like the internet speeds are about 1/4 for outside of Bulgaria connection, but idk if they were referring to the upload speed or both upload and download.

Speeds are exact for Download from outside of the coutry, the upload speed will be little less but not much.

Do you have your VPS set to regular color depth or do you use session bpp:i:8 in the rdp file settings? for people that have either slow internet or a long distance to the vps that setting will boost up productivity greatly if no high color is needed.

One thing to note is, they are Mbps and not MBps. So your download speed will be like 8 times less than the speeds there. (Because download and stuffs shows stats in MBPS).

This doesn't make sense cause Ookla is showing ALL results in Mb.

I did not know the difference. For those that are curious I found this over at wisegeek:

MBps is an abbreviation for Megabytes per second, whereas Mbps is an abbreviation for megabits per second. Eight megabits equal one Megabyte. These abbreviations are commonly used to specify how much data can be transferred per second between two points. In some cases, mbps is used as an abbreviation for megabits per second; however, the lowercase m technically means "milli" not "mega," so it doesn't really mean the same thing.

Again, I understand this but just look at all the Ookla tests. They are showing all the speeds in "Mb" which I'm assuming is megabits per second. I haven't seen one test in this thread that shows "MB" with a capital B.

Here's my shitty $30 / month Verizon speeds.



I use to get 22Mb with comcast for the same price ($29.99) but their tv was $80/month... which I never watched. So I shut down Comcast, moved to verizon (just internet), and now just use netflix and hulu with an hdmi to my TV (encase I wanna watch some movies).

Problem is, when I watch Netflix HD movies there's lots of crackling and pausing. I can watch YT fine but I can tell my internet is slow. If I open more than 10 windows my connection starts locking up / freezing. I have a server too ($65/month) but what can I do to get my Verizon faster? And why does it seem that Canada and all these foreign countries are getting ridiculously fast speeds?

Are you on the old 10/10 plan? The new plans start at 50/50.

It could be a router problem, I've read that some of the older routers with Verizon are messed up.

Yep! That's the problem. I'm using the "High Speed Internet Enhanced" Plan (listed below). I probably need to upgrade to their $59.99 / month plan which would give me 25/25. I'm still amazed how people on here are getting speeds that are almost 1000/1000. Cause the fastest Verizon offers is 75/75.

Most are using their servers to get that speed,and the few that do have great internet speeds aren't posting their out of country speeds.
