Bounce rate vs Time Spent on the Website

If you were to choose between lower bounce rate vs more time spent on page - what would you pick?

(A change in UX has lead to lower bounce rate but also reduced time spent on page)

I think I ask before same question, on bounce rate vs time session.

I also check around on bounce rate, a lot claim just subjective.

high bounce rate don't really mean bad in terms visitors come to your site.

Some just want to check some information , read within few sec and leave the site, whereas some might check other info.

I not expert on these. To me I will choose time session more.
 
There is no right or wrong answer as it depends on your goal. If you want people to click around your website then you should care about bounce rate. And set up your posts in a way that will entice them to read other pages as well. If your goal is to give your visitors the info they're looking for and have them click on an affiliate link, bounce rate doesn't matter, time on a page does. One of my websites has a high bounce rate, but time on page is about 5 min. Meaning they read and find the info useful. After they've read the info they can move along or click on an affiliate link. If I drive visitors to my page with 'red shoes' keyword, I don't want them clicking around, I want them to learn about 'red shoes' and if they're ready to buy, click that affiliate link. And don't listen to anyone saying that bounce rate affects ranking. It does not.

actually I used to check those big establish site , like CNN, BBC etc big authority site , their bounce rate is high at 90
yet their traffic is massive. So that time I ask about bounce rate vs time session

It dont matter to them as they are already ranking and anyways a high bounce rate doesnt equate to a low ranking
 
Time spent on website is good but at the same time lower bounce rate is also better thing to consider.
 
I don't want to hijack the thread, but a relevant question is.. Does google really rank sites based on their bounce rates and time spent on the site? I've tried to search for case studies but seems like there aren't any xd

Time spent on the site yes but both are good and since the engagement rate varies according to the industry you are into!

I know one thing for sure and that is user experience + SEO is a killer combination these days and this is what Google expects from us

Yeah I certainly agree.

But on the other hand, I've been hearing the same thing since a decade ago. But the fact that i can't find an empirical evidence often makes me wonder if there's any real substance to it at all.
