While I'm not any everyday user of the forum, I have frequented it for years and am some what pleased with the direction its headed. But one thing that someone brought to my attention is the massive amount of bots on the forum. Is there anything being done to prevent/put an end to these bots, or has every avenue been tried and tested, and just impossible to rid the platform of them?

Really surprised me people have stooped low enough to actually farm forum accounts. What they're being used for, I don't know.. and tbh, don't really care. I just think it's kinda tacky, and annoying aswell.

Would like to know how you identify the spam. Just share them here. I am pretty sure some mod will watch this thread and work on it.

Or you can report the bot accounts .

I don't have a particular way of identifying spam on the forum, as I mentioned in the OP, someone made me aware of it. Refer to this link below, read my post and the one accompanying it to understand what I'm talking about.

There is a guy in Jr. Executive section that has reported many accounts And Mods are already working on ways to identify more such bots.

I'm sure admins are on it. If you see it, report it.

Good catch. These two definitely look suspicious.

1) Bumping decade old threads
2) Using repetitive words
3) Posting in same Threads and only in 2 or 3 subforums
4) Posting replies every 1-2 minutes in intervals
5) Similar pfp & username choice [FirstName][LastName]

Already discussed multiple times,
there's nothing to do apart from reporting the accounts/posts sadly

In short, those who need to know, they know.

What was currently possible was done, and a lot more will be done in the future.

Unfortunately, the fact is that this forum is open to everyone and you can't ban people over 2 or 3 messages, prove and catch everyone, but, they'll be less and less spamming in the near future, that's for sure.

As someone who regularly reports these profiles, BHW is doing what it can and will do even better in the future.

I invite people to help and report any profile they think is suspicious with valid details.

i noticed decrease in overall spam . lots of chat gpt/farming/useless posts couple weeks/months back.
report them and let mods do the work. bhw is a huge forum. there's gonna be people who play that cat/mouse game of bypassing defense systems.

I wouldn't agree that there is nothing to do... as I know of another forum that had a similar problem, and the problem no longer exists. If there is a problem, there will always be a solution. How long it takes for that solution to be developed and implemented, only time will tell. Can you eliminate 100% of forum spam? No. Can you prevent/eliminate a good percentage of it? Yes. If you couldn't, every forum with value would have the same problem.

This. The latest update should have a major impact on this matter. While it may not be perfect yet, it is always being updated and evolving and i have already seen it in action, so its doing its job. However, some accounts may still slip through, so please report them if you can.
