Try put a few high cpc keyword that related to your content. Spread in the article.

1. Bring more traffic.
2. Make sure that traffic is from tier 1/tier 2 countries.

If you can do these two things, you will just do good with Adsense.

Create a high quality content, find right keywords on your site. Find out how far people scroll your website.

You picked the absolute WRONG niche for an AdSense based website.

There people who failed and are failing at making GREAT money with AdSense have not learned the type of niches, and more importantly the "sub-niches" that thrive with AdSense.

People who don't learn that, will NEVER make money with AdSense, NOT EVER!

Remember, just because a person (did not or cannot) make money with a particular online method DOES NOT mean that everyone else mimicked there shortcomings; there are peole quietly making killings with AdSense.
