HG is incredibly rude.

If you're foolish enough to register a domain with them, they will charge you double for renewal.

I certainly understand that registration and renewal are two different things, but hey... that's rude.
If you go with a reasonable registrar, like internetbs, you pay literally only a few cents more for renewal than registration.

you made a terrible mistake registering a domain name on hosting companies. Why not purchase it on Godaddy,namecheap etc . ?
 
i use them for hosting only and no issue since 2008
 
Namecheap is always best in buying domains. You should never go buying domain with same hosting company where you want to host, not only they cause problems, but you get locked with them.
 
I hate both Hostgator and Godaddy.

Namecheap is the way to go. Internetbs is also fine.

I don't remember how much GD renewals are, but I'm sure they're not better than namecheap or internetbs... coupons would be useful though I guess if you're flipping a site, etc.
 
forget hostgator they are not that friendly so much requirements being asked
 
I ended up giving up on hostgator after my site was down twice in a month for several hours and the just didn't give a fuck. I'm hosting in namecheap now, domain registred in godaddy. better keep things separated.
 
Last week I signed up with them to give them a shot for about 30 minutes and made them cancel and refund my money. Their Rep. did not have a clue about what he was doing at all. Every single thing he told me was wrong and I had to tell him what was right about his service. I'm just sticking with Godaddy myself. Seems to be the same price anyway.

Coming to GD, you need to wait for their emails warning that your domain is about to expire. In those emails, they give you coupons and guess what, they reduce the price up to 33% when the domain is about to expire. I usually pay $8-$9 per renewal for a .com
 
hosgator was fine for me .... I hate their always 30 minutes wait time .... but the support was good enough to solve the problems ... not then and there but submit a ticket and wait for a day or two ... i guess their support is only there to support talking only .. not solving ... by the way guyz is go daddy hosting fast or host gator .... i am talking about shared hosting....
 
Hostgator sometimes offers free domains with its hosting or sometimes at just 1$ for new customers.. Thats a bad strategy they follow OP . They do make profits but we would end up paying more if we own a good domain there
 
Never used godaddy, but namecheap has been good to me
 
The much cheaper is Bigrock you can register a domain there for only few cents more than one dollar
