Hi all,

I feel like I haven't seen a book thread for a while.

Please comment with a book recommendation from your latest reads.

Ill go first:

I recently read "Can't hurt me" by David Goggins - I always thought he was some cringe motivation guru when I saw him on social media, but oh boy how wrong was I.
About 10% into the book and I realized I made a mistake for not looking into his story earlier. It was a great read and I recommend it to everyone.

My other one that relates more to BHW and maybe marketing would be "The third door" by Alex Banayan - Not as amazing as the above but for sure a good story that teaches you that there is always a way.

Looking forward to your book recommendations!

BTW,

You shouldn't strictly recommend marketing books, but if you have some good ones please do :)

Can't Hurt Me is good. Goggins is inspiring.

Some other good books I recommend (copy and pasted from my book thread not too long ago):

-The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle - This could potentially be the best book that you ever read. This is the best book on shifting your mindset. It will help you eliminate self-created stress, anxiety, and depresssion in your life. It's one of those books that breaks your life into two periods - the time before you read The Power of Now and the time after you read The Power of Now.

- 12 Rules for Life - Jordan Peterson - This is one of the best books about "getting your life in order". If you're struggling with life and feel like everything is hopeless - read this book. I've read this book numerous times throughout the years. I truly feel like this book has elevated my life in numerous ways, and I simply can't recommend it enough.

- Man's Search for Meaning - Victor Frankl - This book was horrifying and beautiful. The first half of this book Victor discusses his experience surviving the holocaust. The second half of this book he discusses the meaning of life. One of my favorite moments from this book is when he suggests that you shouldn't be asking "What is the meaning of life?" You need to understand that life asks you, "What is your meaning on earth?". You need to take responsibility for discovering your own purpose.

Some other essential reads (non business related):

- Irreversible Damage - Abigail Shrier
- Parasitic Mind - Gad Saad
- Charisma Myth - Olivia Fox Cabane
- Atomic Habits - James Clear
- Can't Hurt Me - David Goggins

Some great books on business:

- Building a StoryBrand - Donald Miller (Brilliant.)
- Making Money Is Killing Your Business - Chuck Blakeman (Don't be fooled by the title... this book is all about making money)
- 10X Rule - Grant Cardone (Be careful about this though. I'd only recommend this if you have a solid business background. This will help you frame making money as a moral necessity.)

Just placed an order for 3 of those - the first one sounds like exactly like something I have been looking for.

Thank you!

The audiobook is fantastic. I recommend the audiobook on that one.

I’m reading, “guerrilla marketing” currently. I like it.

It's not on my list of last reads but it's definitely one of my favorite books: The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. Excellent book if you analyze the author's life and the social context of the moment.

Excellent choice. If I have to be honest, at first I hated it. It seemed extremely grotesque and absurd, as you say. But, once I began to analyze it, I realized that it is a reflection of how Kafka felt, and that seems pretty awesome to me. It definitely invites reflection.

you should try to read Kappa by Ryūnosuke Akutagawa it is also absurd. lol

Essentialism > I would say its 1 of the best book... There's lots of noise and its important to focus on ONE thing... Turn away all the distractions! Simple concept yet so powerful.
