bluehost or hostgator?

I've been with 1and1 for the last couple months and oh, boy, they suck big time. Their cpanel is like from the medieval age.

I'm planning on getting a new host with proper cpanel. I was thinking bluehost but a friend recommended hostgator.

Bluehost reached 565 alexa (was 1k or so last time I checked) and the owner is a really nice guy - you can check his blog.

I don't know much about hostgator since I never used them.

So what do you guys think? I'm biased towards bluehost (that reputation building with the owner's blog got to me) but I don't want to count hostgator out yet.

I'd recommend hostgator. I use them for about a year and NEVER had ANY problem, and I got around 20 sites which receive 2-10k visitors each per month...
 
Guess the same can be said for bluehost. Both are excellent hosting companies..
 
I have used Bluehost a few years ago and it was alright, but then last month i made a new website with them and its been nothing but problems, slow websites, then their server went down, then their msql went down.

Live chat gave me an excuse after the other.


So i moved to Hostgator, and i must say, my websites have never loaded faster :)
 
I would highly recommend hostgator as recommended above by others. Been using them for about 5-6 months and their service is excellent.
 
I've been with hostgator around 2 years, one word: marvelous :)

They have online support even for technical issues ( something no other provider I've seen up to now).
Their data center is superb too
 
Recently bluhost had some problems that caused some server to to down, but now they seem to have fixed the issue.

Bluehost actually was proactive very recently stopping a problem before it started and their servers shut down for a short time.

I'm a fan of Bluehost but you won't go wrong with Hostgator either.

In my opinion they are about equal.
 
I am using Hostgator for 3 years and very satisfied with their service, specially their online chatting support very fast, I am leaving in different time zone so every time I chat with them they are in the middle of night :)
 
I have been using hostgator for years, the best things I like are their server uptime and their customer support.

I can't compare these 2, I never used Bluehost. But been using HG for years ( and many others) and I think the value you get from them is very good.

Pricing- Support- Uptime are all meeting my requirements
 
never used bluehost but hostgator is ok so far. been half a year with them. anyway stay away from godaddy they are the gayest provider online
 
HOSTGATOR ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!!! You would also say this if you knew what I got for years b4 them!!
 
Mr Bro uses bluehost and has been happy with them whereas I've been with hostgator for 2-3 years and have never had an issue. The online support when needed is great, the speed is good and not had any complaints with uptime.
 
another vote for hostgator. I've got 3 accounts with them, around 2 years now, and I've never had an issue with them. Never noticed any down time, customer service is ALWAYS there, and helpfull... all around best host I've used.
 
1and1 does suck, for ALL their services...

hostgator has really gotten it together over the years.
been with them over a year, highly reccomended.
 
I currently use both of them and own almost 2000 sites i have had nothing but problems with Host Gator but i do love Blue Host only one power outage that was fixed fast. $3.95 a month you cant go wrong. Because of file number limitations you can have about 50 blogs on one server. Not too bad.
