Bloody Americans!

I don't know what's worse, misspelling a few everyday words, or speaking cockney rhyming slang... btw, most of the words you mentioned ARE spelled correctly ;)

"Bloody Americans!" the title of the post really shaked me I thought its some note from bin ladan.

I ain't compromisin to no brits!

That's why.....a compromise will not be on the cards in the near future. So most importantly, wherever you are from, as long as your reader becomes your buyer or CPA filler, it don't matter to me :smoker:

Probably because Americans can't spell their own words and we're not the one to blame if we copy their grammar errors. How should we know it's not correct if even they don't know it?

Anyway joben1, I thought you knew that US English can be sometimes different from UK English. Like humor-humour, color-colour, cab-taxi, we own-you suck but it's still grammatically correct.

Let's stop bashing American spelling and start on the Aussies instead...why do they have to abbreviate every single word and put an "o" on the end, it sort of sounds like a cross between English and Spanish sometimes...

Who goes by standards these days anyway, Rage against the machine and rage against the dictionaries, as long as people understand what you mean who cares :D

Its just another type of act like a law, who says you have to go by what everyone else is doing in this situation spelling, who makes it right? Who makes it wrong?

I dont care do you? Ill write whatever way I want :D

I'm sorry. But has any of you actually ever met a newphie? They will literally destroy an American's stupidity and make them look really smart. They are a bit smarter than fish, because that's all they do, bay.

Really can you give us a example

you use our language so you should speak it as we intend it to be spoken :p

nah all joking aside, one or two letters doesn't exactly do much so just deal with it.

Most of my lecturers at uni are american so i've got into a habbit of american spelling at somethings.

Everyone should just speak spanish!

PS - Harro: RATM rock, had to give up my chance to see them this year though as my girlfriend bought me a holiday. how gash is that!

Ho no! Me spealling iss gittin woss

As someone born and raised in the US I have come to learn that different spelling of the same words (i.e. color vs colour, theater vs theatre, center vs centre, etc) is understand by most people in any case.

When writing a letter or document (formal) in the US, you would raise some eyebrows by spelling standardise instead of standardize (generally accepted US english spelling). I have created documents for clients in the UK and have had to created separate versions with the proper regional spelling to make sure all parties had what is 'familiar' to them.

If that is not confusing enough, then just look at the various regions here in the US: West Coast grammar vs East Coast vs South vs Midwest. Truly funny...

It's not dealing with Americans that is doing it. It's mingling with members of DP that will do it to you.

I am Aussie and I'll have to agree with this one. its freakin annoying, I don't abbreviate like this but everyone i know does. "lets go for a bevoo" (beverage)
for example. with out a doubt something is abbreviated in every sentence, after a while you start saying it and it drives me up the wall it does!!!
