There is nothing better than you because originality came from your mind only but if you want software then go for the search.

What do you mean, "It doesn't work on your computer?"

Are you using a OS other than Windows?

Does you computer meet the minimum WLW specs?

Or, are you having issues getting past your first blog?

There are many that you can go for. But I guess, the one I have used was fair...it is Xanga

Live writer will not work on my computer.

I'm on win xp and get nothing but errors while trying to install

Without knowing the specifics of your machine and the actual install issues, i would:
(1). un-install every instance of WLW using Revo
(2). Run a deep scan for viruses using Malwarebytes and avast or some other reputable anti-virus
(3). Tune up your machine by running Disk Clean Up
(4). Make sure your machine has all of the latest Microsoft up dates
(5). Make sure that you are running the latest version of the IE browser, which is the default for WLW
(6). Try and re-install WLW again. This time, after you download the latest version and scan it, close all other programs, disable your AV and attempt your install. If that doesn't work, your machine if a friggin anomaly!!!!

As far as Desktop Publishing applications, there are a number of them and they each have their pros and cons.

There is http://www.bloghatter.com, which used to be real popular. The issue is, it only services Blogger and Self Hosted WordPress. The up side is that you can schedule post for whenever and add videos, images, all from the desktop. You can pick this up for $27 bucks on the JL forum.

Next is the auto blog software by Nick Carty of Webmagnates. It runs a whopping $147 and it is also limited to Blogger and WordPress. I used this way back when it first came out before switching to WLW.

You can look at BlogDesk; one drawback is you cannot post to Blogger and the other is, the GUI is primitive as all get out. Aside from those issues, it is a free program. http://www.blogdesk.org/en/index.htm

Qumana is another desktop application that has some nice reviews and of all of the free programs, it posts to the most blogging platforms. I would probably pick Qumana out of all of the other programs.
