I'm using an auto blogger tied into a local news, local news relevant to the industry and directly related to the nitch. Have it real low priority. It is tied to the footer on the pages.Blogging can help with topical authority and ranking for some long tails.
I personally don't do it but if you have time then it can have some minimal impact.
I'm out of local off page and on page options growth.I wouldn't waste your efforts on blogging if you are concerned with Maps ranking there are better solutions.
