For local SEO does a blog help with the map pack?

Other than targeting specific keywords in the serps?

Blogging can help with topical authority and ranking for some long tails.

I personally don't do it but if you have time then it can have some minimal impact.

I'm using an auto blogger tied into a local news, local news relevant to the industry and directly related to the nitch. Have it real low priority. It is tied to the footer on the pages.

Best way to use a blog is to show geographic authority. Write about local landmarks, history of the area, etc, then link back to your location page.

Blog can be a powerhouse for local SEO. By tackling local issues, events, or providing area-specific advice, you're signaling to Google that you're an authority in your region.

I wouldn't waste your efforts on blogging if you are concerned with Maps ranking there are better solutions.

I'm out of local off page and on page options growth.

Outside of real reviews, there isn't much to do for local unless you are doing black hat..

You have to draw the line somewhere. But you will get left in the dust. Like those that still refuse to use AI doing manual research while their competitors are able to pinpoint perfect strategies. I'm not suggesting negative SEO. But in certain niches the money is great enough to your competition will do just about everything to stay ahead. Are you ready to get left behind by something with no moral bearing?

My local competitors mostly don't even vest in SEO. Majority of the clients are b2b so the majority of the marketing is spent in other strategies.

Marketing tends to be more cost effective compared to SEO now and days anyway. Focusing both on bottom and top of funnel will yield more conversions now with the same budget as most SEO fees. This is true for most niches.

Yes, having a blog can positively impact your local SEO efforts, including your presence in map packs. Here's how:
  1. Content Relevance
  2. Keyword Targeting
  3. Internal Linking
  4. Backlinks
  5. User Engagement and Dwell Time
Overall, while targeting specific keywords is important for local SEO, having a blog can help you create relevant content, improve your website structure, attract backlinks, and increase user engagement. It can complement your efforts by providing opportunities. Map packs and organic search results.
