Quick question to the gang. Planning to build a new blog and I need to know your opinion. I have been told that immediately sending tonnes of links to my money site (http://www.mysite.com), will cause it to get sandboxed. I was told that one way around it is to use blogger. The trick here is that google will not flag it because they are used to blogger getting millions of inbounds daily.

Is this true? I personally like hosted wordpress solutions better, but if this sandboxing thing is true then it wount do me any good in the short term. I am trying to optimize these sites asap, by sending gallons of links to it.

I am so used to paying for traffic, that I just realized how much of an seo noob I am.

You can't go wrong with self hosted WordPress blogs...Google loves em' and indexes fast but, why not set-up blogger blog as a "google" property & point back to WP site!
 
Get a email poster and post to blogger from wordpress - if you tweak the post (some php needed) - you can have unique content on blogger.

wordpress.com suck, but wordpress.org (self-hosted wordpress) is great!
 
cool, looks like wordpress is leading the way. i prefer it myself, but the problem is the sandboxing issue.

so let me rephrase this question...WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I DO THE FOLLOWING...

1. GET A DOMAIN NAME
2. DEPLOY WORDPRESS//HOSTED
3. COUPLE OF UNIQUE ARTICLES
4. GALLONS/DOZENS OF LINKS IMMEDIATELY SENT TO THE WORDPRESS SITE

Will step 4 get me sandboxed? What do you guys suggest?

That is going to be an issue... better to do steps 1 - 3 and then

4. GALLONS/DOZENS OF LINKS IMMEDIATELY SENT to a few sites that point to your money site.
 
I recommend wordpress over blogspot, based only on personal experience.

The sandbox effect is always a possibility, depending mainly on your keyword and its competitiveness / spammy-ness. Web 2.0 properties are not immune to the sandbox effect but they may be more resilient to its worst extent i.e. disappearing for 4 months or more.

If it's a low effort process, then I recommend that you go for Wordpress and see what happens. I have previously hit wordpress.com pages hard with manual linkbuilding and seen success. However, if you plan to go over the top with automated linkbuilding then I cannot offer a reliable opinion on what will happen.
 
I have done same... My results

-After some times my main site went down (sandbox).. it's few months but they are not coming back... I made all links manually but still more then 10k backlinks with in 1-2 months on a new domain.. They ranked for 1-4 months then gone...It happened with several of my domains...

- Web 2.0 properties which i made along with them remained ranking for more then a year, some are still ranking... on some of them i made more then 25k backlinks but no sandbox.. again all manual backlinks...

Niche was very competitive and HOT...
 
The sandbox is independent from "blogger or wordpress". The system you use has absolutely nothing to do with gettin sandboxed. Every new domain will get sandboxed if Google detects an "unnatural" link building behavior - and getting dozens of backlinks is definitely not natural. My recommendation is to set up the Blog, write some content, get it indexed (pingler.com, etc...) and start slowly but constantly to build links.

I dont know what techniques u r using, but instead of exploiting them all at once, spread it over 2 or 3 month. Google will notice that ur site is constantly getting backlinks and award it accordingly.
 
I use both. I mix feeds and use email posting (with a script which is easy to find) to post the same material in different form to both platforms. For quick money use one of the tools that generates generate thousands of quick backlinks to your blogger or WP blog. You will jump to the top of the SERPS for a brief time, but long enough to make some bank. Of course, the site will eventually drop out of the top rankings.
The other approach is more complicated and involves a web of links to your WP and Blogger properties to give them some cred and then link from there to your money site. A variety of methods are available here on BHW. this is a more long term strategy.
 
Wordpress for versatility, Blogger because Google will always wax its own sh!z.
 
I think both has their pro's and con's if we use it correctly.
 
make web 2.0 properties as a linkwheel to your money site(self hosted wordpress blog) and create backlinks around them.
 
Self-hosted Wordpress + associated Blogger account(s) with backlinks to your own site = Best

There's a lot of misinfo on IM forums about the sandbox effect, mostly exaggerating it. Do your research, see what the pros are doing. Let's just say that most people on BHW who are making serious money from search engine traffic are NOT quivering in their boots about offending the big G.
