Should I promote in Google+ groups, in Twitter hashtags, or should I use other methods?
 
Social media is your best bet these days.
 
Target your market and simply expose your content to them. Don't spam it or push it on them, just position it where they hang out - whether it be on Facebook, Twitter, G+ or some far less popular community, doesn't matter, just get in front of them! If you truly target your market effectively, then they will be attracted to your website like bees to honey.
 
Social media is the best way to get traffic for a new site. But for long term traffic you have to do S.E.O.

Thanks. I'll try this out. I don't have an FB, but I have been using Twitter and G+. Sometimes I break through, but most of the time I don't.

Lots of ways. I published a blog post about this topic. But my favorite way of getting traffic is blog commenting, being active on forums within my niche. You can also get tons of Reddit traffic if you do it right, but people there tend to be salty to self-pomotions.
