I know this is not PC for many, since I post this once on webhosting forum and they changed the title,
Why I reposting, specially here, simple I got frustrated of these hacking attempts on every Server I setup, immediately I got hack attempts.
This sht is big, and some still attack you just to mention it, I'm spreading panic or creating fake news, or saying something new,
But many people still ignore security on their servers, BTW these attempts not just random root password login attempts,
They will try every possible Vulnerability available on the internet or even zero-day attacks if they have some.
For me I'm secured my server login with ssl-certificate allowing only my PC to login to my server,
I even do IP/region lock to all sensitive paths on the server, but still I think many people still underestimated this threat.

yeah its common thing aint it.
buy a vps and immediately you have 100 foreign actors trying to ssh inside.
first thing i always do is google vps hardening guide and do these procedures.
why stop at china. block russia, india, germany, all those micro countries. may as well just only whitelist your country!

why stop at china. block russia, india, ,
To be fair the less hack attempts i encounter comes from Russia, India ( Russia is first when it comes to spam )
but since Germany is popular hosting spot, so it's second after China on hacking attempts,
BTW blocking these IPs will make your VPS runs faster since these repeated attempts will throttle it OS, and it network connection

This is an interesting phenomenon. The Chinese government blocks its own Internet, but a large number of attacks come from China.

Very true, and they try everything. At work we use imunify360 in cpanel and it's just a stream of blocked China IPs

Yes, i agree, china is a big hacker problem, but if you have a few websites, you'll see they don't always get blocked by wordfence in the largest amount. I have a site, and most blocked hacking attempts come from USA. lol although one thang that does piss me off is that every domain I get "open a tik tok store" official message spammed multiple times a month, and I don't use tik tok.

and most blocked hacking attempts come from USA
Yep, these USA visit BTW are all coming from hosting companies IP address, rarely I see residential IP on Spam/Hack log.
In the past when I was so obsessed with security, I block entries Hosting ISP IP range e.g Amazon AWS Digital ocean Hetzner.
The end results were super great , my website start loading faster and I get rid of 99% of spam on all my websites
