Yes its a web 2.0 that creates back link to your website. For Tumblr, content links are redirected which didn't pass the value like the other do-follow blogs. But you can still use description section to get a do-follow links from each tumblr blogs. So here you can use it in two ways. Do-follow links from description section and redirect links via posting content.
