Your definitely in the right place. I recommend you search and understand the basic factors for on-page seo/basic link building.

Take some time to understand and invest in SEO tools:

Scrapebox
SenukeX
Xrumer
The Best Spinner etc....

& definitely use the search function on this forum.

Give it some time, work hard and you'll be a true black hatter in no time

Free ways to get traffic to websites:
Find websites that allow Links in Signature. Sign up and post a ton.
Find chat rooms that dont need you to sign up, bust in, drop your link.
Make facebook account and drop your link on the walls/discussions of high traffic pages.

Are you looking for converting traffic or just any old junk traffic?

A Blackhat method to get traffic would be to combine Google Alerts rss feeds and Yahoo pipes, posting via Feedburner promotion tool to several twitter accounts. But you would need to let these twitter accounts grow naturally with followers just using Keyword orientated Google Alerts rss feeds until you have a good amount of followers. Then you could then use a well known Yahoo pipes method to target twitters who mention your keywords and send them @ messages with a link to your website.

i am what you call an 'old' newbie.. been a newbie for awhile because i had the same thinking as you. i was making very little money from my websites because i didn't want to spend money on them. been doing this for about a year and a half. then early this year, i decided to go invest money on more websites and researched A LOT about WH and BH way and it's finally paying off. last month i made $500+ on a few websites. this month i am on pace to double that amount. IMHO, combining WH and BH is the way to go

i guess what i am saying is, you have to spend money to make money
