    Hey guys,

I have a niche e-commerce site that makes a few sales a week mostly using my facebook sales funnel.

My rank in google is crap, but I'm pretty sure it would be possible to beat out the top searches in my niche. I want to increase my rank.

I have great blog content, but I don't have any backlinks at all. It seems like my site isn't even picking up my backlinks from social media (is there a reason for this?) My site is 1 month old.

What should I start doing TODAY to start boosting my rank? Building backlinks? Building web 2.0's and linking to my money site? FYI I have no software so I'll be doing everything by hand. Let it be known that I'm pretty noob with SEO. I've read through the entire PHPBUILT thread, and implemented his tips. But I'm not seeing any results really at all.

Heck if you guys want, I'll even post my URL here and you can rip it up from an SEO stand point.

    Thank you all.

    -Colin

Just search for good authority sites where you can create a free blog, some newspapers allow you to do that. They work fine, if you cant find any just look for web 2.0 sites, blogger, tumblr, etc.

Create several blogs in those platforms, with good and original content. After that, just build some backlinks to these blogs, good web 2.0 profiles, etc or some tier 2 blogs, you can use spun content in this tier.

Once you get some money, you should create your PBN and some software for tier 1: FCS networker, and GSA for tier 2.

With this you can get some good money. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the tip! So I use original content on the web 2.0's, and link back to my money site on the web 2.0's.

Then I build backlinks to the 2.0's using crappier websites. Pretty much the just of it, right?

That is a very basic start... a way to begin. You'll see a lot of commentary here about doing that for SEO and for a PART of your SEO that is fine.

Once you do that you want to diversify into a much broader base of backlinking and move forward but you will not go wrong STARTING with that idea...

But, do not stop there as that will, one day, not have the same SEO power it once had and is even diminishing yet right now as we speak.

It's great to see noobs posting about reasonable expectations! I wish you the best of luck.

The name of the game is to remain slow and steady.

It sounds like you have tackled the 'social media backlinks/signals' pretty well.

You need to start thinking about your keyword strategy and see whether your blog content is targeting these keywords sufficiently. There is less emphasis on keyword optimisation but nonetheless On page SEO and keyword research are still the 'bread and butter' to starting out.

So in summary I believe you need to worry about these 3 things in this order:

    1. Keyword research (what keywords will you target, is there enough visitors searching for those keywords)
    2. On page SEO (is my on page SEO decent enough that will help google determine relevancy).
    3. Backlinking (slow and steady wins the race).

I would recommend you visit Moz and take a small crash course in SEO
    http://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo

And my final word of advice to you is never reveal your niches to anyone.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for the honesty, Colin.

Tell you what, PM me your site and I'll break down everything I see on the SEO standpoint and post it here (blurring out the website and keywords, of course). That way, you and others will be able to benefit from the analysis as well as the suggestions on where to build links and how to get traffic while building links and stuff. :)

If it's your first site, and you want long-term results, I'd recommend starting off slow and steady, building multiple different forms of backlinks every few days. Just stick with a few new links every few days. Stick with brand anchor, raw URLs, brand anchor variations, and some generic keywords. If you're in it for the long haul - and want as low chance at a penalty as possible - then I'd recommend not building many links to your keywords until you all ready have your base profile down. Then you're free to (slowly) build some keyword anchors, whilst trying to maintain a good ratio of brand, raw URL, and generics.

You don't have to take my word for it - as this is based purely off of my own personal experience (with my sites, and people I know), but I doubt anyone can argue that this is an effective start.

Great advice... Immediately one question comes to mind. Where do I build these links slowly from?

Awesome. Thanks so much for the great advice. I did my keyword research and I feel as if I am in a good niche with profit potential. I think I'm doing on-page SEO right, but I'm not really seeing the results (as far as titles and keyword density).

As far as backlinking, I'm just losing. Lol, no backlins at all. But shouldn't Majestic SEO and similar analysis tools at least be picking up the backlinks from my social profiles?

Learn, learn and learn some more.
Read as much as you can on the forum.
Pick a technique that you're interested in, ask people for help on the forum
Stick with it and if it suceeds or fails you will have gained a lot of experience

Is there anything I can do to mask the fact that I'm building these backlinks? And clearly, I have to write original content on the 2.0's right? 1 article per web 2.0 or more?

I'm still a noob. I'll always be a noob. A noob that tests things and figures out what works and what doesn't. Because I am that kind of noob, I might one day be really good.

if you are having questions, this website is amazing. There is more information here than you can know what to do with. The real question is, is ALL the information legit? Does it still work? Did it ever work? You will have to learn these things yourself by directly testing that information to find what works for you.

My best advice to you is that you listen to people who say "use the search function." But I recommend that you ONE UP that advice and learn how to use googles advanced search operators to find what you want here.

You want to know about building links using web 2.0's? try this in google:

    site:blackhatworld.com [TUT] Web 2.0
    site:blackhatworld.com build web 2.0

try this operator with similar keywords. You will find what you are after and more. Best part is you can apply this to researching any website. Including your competition ;)

Keep in mind, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm trying to steer you in the direction of success. TEST TEST TEST then test some more!

also you should watch this video. it might answer some questions you will have in the near future

(not necessarily about using scrapebox or scrape jet but about building links after penguin)
