So a month ago, an SEO company offered to do some on-page optimization and link building for us so we decided to test them out. After a month or so, I noticed a difference in how many impressions our page was appearing for the keywords that I had helped define for them so I went in and requested some reports for the work that they did.
An example of the type of work they did: they were listing multiple keywords into the footer section and not in a natural readable way, just straight keywords in a long line, some image compression plugins, edited the page titles to what I would consider just basically a long tail keyword with the company name following.
I then looked at the link building that they've been doing. These are the websites that they are using to provide "press releases" and coverage of the website.
What I'm trying to understand is, the work is so garbage, how are there changes in impressions and keyword position on Search Console, etc.
