If you are new to the Black Hat SEO game you are basically here to slip through the back door of SEO.And you will learn alot on this site.Alot of people starting out join a affiliate program, start promoting with their subdomain or banners they provide you. But,it's not your domain. Now you can get free domains like dot tk,co.cc to name a couple. You can promote these, build backlinks to them and lower your Alexa rank. But,this is a big don't.

When you use a free domain like dot tk or co.cc and make it popular and your making sales and your like,sweet....My site has gone viral.Just as happy as can be your making money. But here's what you may not know.

If you make one of these free domains popular, you are going to wake up one morning, check your earnings for the day and find that it is $0.You go check your free domain to find another site is now on it.Ripped right out from under you and your pissed off.

But if you read the fine print of TOS it states your free domain can be sold at any time with no fair warning to you.Like they say nothing is free.

So before you even start BH.Score a real domain that you pay for.

Think long term and keep your url nich realivant.

And read and understand the the TOS of your domain provider.

wow.. great advice.
Personaly never used a free domain, but never though they could sell it whenever they want.
Thx for pointing this out, now i can figure way they give it for free, interesting.

In fairness free domains are good for those with no start up capital. Pick a simple email submit for a website, e.g. rude .Redirect the free domain to the signup page. Promote using commenting or forum spamming. Receive first pay and buy domain. This can be done in less than an hour.

Obviously for longterm the OP is 100% correct

You forgot to mention that it's more professional to have your own domain. Anything less is amateurish.

If you want a quick throw away domain free ones are great. They are good to use for affiliate signups in classifieds.

Thanks for telling about the TOS in regards of selling the domain without any warning. But anyways, I think no real player would go with a free domain like this. At least I hope so:)

has given me a great idea, scrap alexa top 1mil for co.cc and buy all the domains which can be sold :)

wow man that's crazy I had no clue that they could just snatch it up away from you. I guess they WANT you to get a popular site so they can profit from it instead of you....evil bastards...reminds me of us...lol.

As said before, there's nothing wrong with using these domains for a quick buck. Besides, with some of the stuff I do, the sooner I lose the domain the better! lol

Of course, for longer term usage it would just be stupid to use a free domain.

Brings a couple questions to mind, this thread does...

A.) Is there a centralized location where you can go to see these domains in action and purchase what is geared towards what your doing?

B.) If you were to buy one of these...how long before they are able to turn around and sell it again? (ie how long before they say "hey, you got what you paid for, now its someone elses turn...?) I mean, is there a different TOS if you purchase a fully functioning one vs. if you build one up from scratch?

Anyway, that's what my brain spewed forth after reading this thread.

Lol! Exactly what I thought! Where can I go and buy one of these domains that someone else has spent time on SEO and is pulling in some decent traffic:)

I'm half joking (but only half):D

Yea don't SEO a .tk site.

But they're fine for short term stuff I guess...

If you build up one of these free domains then decided to buy it,depending on it's rank, the price will be higher.Which is why they would snatch it away from you and sell to somebody willing to pony up the dough.I had a dot tk that I worked my ass off on and got the alexa rank around 1,000,000 in a very short period of time.It started at 24,000,000.I checked it one day and somebody else had bought it.Funny thing is,the person who bought it has the alexa around 3,500,000 now.Guess he isn't blackhat...lol

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know they could just sell them right out from under you like that.

I think it's still ok to use them for training, though. What if you suck at market research and can't find a good niche? What if you don't know how to pick good domain names, or you just want to throw up some sites to get used to the technical aspects?

I've done all these things, and I'm glad I didn't waste any money on domains I'm not going to keep.

If you don't want to drop $10 on a domain, and don't want to worry about losing your .tk or .co.cc domain, how about a $1 .info domain? You could have 10 mini-sites or 10 WordPress installation or 10 whatever, for around the same price as 1 .com.
