bitly and message blocks

Hello guys, is it true that sending bit.ly links in the dms is causing bans/followblocks and message blocks?
i've been using it for a couple of months and a lot of friends started to complain about it recently, any people here had the same experience ? thanks!

Its not just because of "bit ly" its because IG doesn't like when you spam any link to peoples DM.
