Bitcoin VS Litecoin

...

Comparing Litecoins and bitcoins as silver and gold makes no sense. Bitcoins are divisable by a huge number, so it's not like you will be unable to get down to $1 or even $0.01 in a transaction, and they are actually useful. Litecoins are worth less than bitcoins, which people are taking as the same thing as silver and gold, because silver is worth less than gold... it makes no sense. Rocks are worth less than gold too, but they are not connected to gold in any way in form of trading.

Well obviously you don't own any precious minerals! Here in my town there is a HUGE Rock selling convention which brings with it $100 million in sales annually.

Point being: even if you don't see the value in it does not mean that others won't.

The only mention MtGox has made to support your statement is a single tweet that promised nothing. MtGox won't carry LTC anytime soon - there is absolutely no use for them, they are just a trading commodity like all the other 100 alternative cryptocurrencies. MtGox is the trusted exchange right now, to carry LTC would be to stoop down to a site like btc-e.

I was excited about buying LTC too. Short term, there is no reason for them to rise though, besides if MtGox carries them, which I explained above. Long term yes it could be a good investment, because if Bitcoin gets BIG there has to be a secondary (imo).

The point is they mentioned it. " We have no estimate date for this YET "
The currency is already on their API https://data.mtgox.com/api/2/LTCUSD/money/ticker
Meaning it will be picked up by them at some point. Litecoins are dirt cheap right now and it won't stay that way forever.

You're just nitpicking what I said. Bitcoins and litecoins are not the equivalent of both being precious metals. Litecoin has no use! At all! No one is developing any sort of support for litecoin. Show me a single person accepting litecoin as payment. They are valued solely based on speculation - speculation that MtGox will carry them - which I don't believe they will, explained above.

Give me a single reason why I should use Litecoin over the established Bitcoin. Seriously, please change my mind, because Litecoins and every other alternative cryptocurrency are based 100% on hype.

And you don't think that hype is what's currently driving up the BTC price?

Gox will accept Litecoins within two weeks so it's totally worth invest in.

gonna invest into litecoin but i don't understand how you mine them?

do u guys spent it? where? which websites accept virtual coins?

The recent Bitcoin rollercoaster ride has come to an end for one exchange.
Bitcoin exchange BitFloor announced Wednesday it is closing its trading operations and plans to return its remaining funds to its users.
The New York-based exchange, which specialized in trades of the digital peer-to-peer currency, announced the closure with a note on its home page bitfloor penned by its founder, Roman Shtylman:
"I am sorry to announce that due to circumstances outside of our control BitFloor must cease all trading operations indefinitely. Unfortunately, our US bank account is scheduled to be closed and we can no longer provide the same level of USD deposits and withdrawals as we have in the past. As such, I have made the decision to halt operations and return all funds.

Over the next days we will be working with all clients to ensure that everyone receives their funds. Please be patient as we process your request. "

I think thats too much with these coins. Lets start our own bhwcoins and we close the gap.

Litecoin will never get to the level of bitcoin UNLESS a big retailer/shop starts accepting litecoin instead of bitcoin. But, for investment, i would go for litecoin.

I've been mining LiteCoins for today from my 4 VPS's and 2 local machines, looking forwarded to some nice results (I sneaked it onto my clients windows server which has a TON of processing power) I'll see how it goes :)

I'd be careful...I'm intrigued and wish i had bought litecoins when they were $0.01/ltc, but i think long-term there is only room for one widely used cryptocurrency and right now bitcoin has the upper hand.

So, the bitcoins is right now blowing my mind.. I don't understand why i did not invested in btc when the price was 5$/btc..

So what about Litecoins? Do you guys think that it will be nearly as popular as btc?

The price of ltc is right now $4.45/ltc i think. So an investment of 100 ltc / $445

'IF' the ltc reaches the value of the btc today in a couple of months, that would mean that an investment of $445 would make me a good amount of money.

Todays btc value is: $203

That would mean that the investment of $445 would make me $20300 just doing nothing..

So what do you guys think? Is it worth investing some money in litecoins?

Best Regards
So i am curious, did you buy it that day?
i saw now the value and you should have made some money.
