I have sites ranked really well on Google and Yahoo but these same sites are 5 or 6 pages deep on Bing. Am missing some kind of trick here? Typically link building generates higher rankings for all search engines. Any help????:(

Sadly, it looks like bing will never take off because it's not that good.

It shows all my spam sites at top positions, sites which google will not even go near.

From what you've said, it also look like it doesn't recognize quality white hat sites as well as google does.

(I am assuming your sites are white hat because you are posting on the white hat forum)

Don't see much hope for Bing unless it improves fast.

If I had the "problem" you do, my other problems would go away :D

Bing loves my sites!
The problem is, Google is meh about them, and Yahoo hates them.

Don't worry about not ranking in Bing. They have a lot of curiosity traffic, but I get more sales from the super-long-tail keyphrases I've managed to secure in Google than I get from a #1 under my main keyword in Bing. I think Bing's recent relaunch has attracted an even less valuable type of traffic to the place than they usually have--people who are just looking at it to see if it's different/better than "Live."

I have noticed the same thing. For a short while I was listed #1 for my main KW on what I considered my best site at the time. Now it is nowhere to be found. Even though it was making up for roughly 60 % of the traffic, for my niche, most conversions were from google.

I am still considering if I should let this bother me or not. A few more sites still show but I'm sure they will be gone shortly.

Bing seems to like spam sites more than google/yahoo for some reason :S

bing doesn't bring much traffic anyways. don't worry about it.

I'm loving Bing So far. My sites that I thought were dead and gone all of a sudden were showing up on 1st position on Bing made for a nice income last month.

Bing is goofy with its rankings at this point. It seems to look at on page SEO a lot more than the other search engines i've noticed. Also it doesn't seem to take in the sites age and reputation as strongly as the other top SE's

I dont like Bing either, they index very bad..

I actually dominate the first 3 pages of a couple of highly searched in google keywords for Bing (All but one site on the first 3 pages is one of mine and it's on the 3rd page). Funny thing is these sites get a ton of visitors from google and the highest rank is like 3rd on Google page 1 then nothing til page 3 google. I've gotten maybe 100 visitors from Bing total to these sites so I really think Bing isn't even worth my time

This has been pissing me off (since my last post in this thread) so I decided to mess with it a bit just to see what happens.

In a nutshell I completely changed the layout of the site. After doing a bit of research before I tweaked anything, it seemed the general consensus was that it was in your best interest, for bing.com, to change the site layout, so I did.

I think I got a little crazy last time with the drive by of Amazon widgets and Adsense. This time around I have a 250x250 in the top of the sidebar (which is at the left) and a 768 text link banner below the header. That?s it really. I contained the Amazon aStore garbage to its own dedicated page. I did this with coupons as well.

The site has original content, which I ping to the basic places and then I Digg it after. I do this for each post and toss in a ?review? every few posts. I made sure that I don?t have more than 1 visible review on the main page. Why do I do this? I have no idea actually, it?s my personal preference atm.

I understand it is virtual suicide to change a site the way I did, but when its ?banned? or sandboxed and you are just experimenting to see what works best for a specific niche.. Its not a bad idea imo.

After I did all this I proceeded to log in to my account at msn and let them know my site was around via their add-site feature.

2 days later I am back at #1 for my targeted keyword and now I am noticing decent conversions with PPC as well as Amazon.

Of course Murphy?s Law will kick in after I hit this submit button and my site will poof. :)
