BHW should start doing something with the followers function

It's a kinda useless function imo. It serves absolutely no purpose but it could be beneficial.

How about if you'd implement something that pushes a new service, or service updates (active BST) to your followers via forum notification?

The sellers could benefit from this, it's just a robust idea but you get the point.. Because for sellers, new people follow them only for their services, maybe it could be utilized somehow so that it would be beneficial for all.

Right now you click "follow" and they are forgotten immediately.

I think new and interesting BST notices would be a cool feature via follower feed.

I wonder who FDMonitor is. He's a supermod that joined last month.

The 'follow' function does have a purpose at the moment. If you follow a member, anytime they make a new post it will show up in your news feed here: https://www.blackhatworld.com/whats-new/news-feed

You can access it from the header, like so:


In addition to showing posts, threads and reactions of members you follow, it will also show you updates for new threads in sections you follow, updates for threads you are watching, etc. Most things to do with your notification preferences should show up there. I can tell a lot of members aren't aware of the news feed feature, which is a shame because I consider it to be very useful.

Although I've technically answered this thread, I'll leave this open in case any members wish to discuss other potential options for the 'follow' function.

Thanks for the question. The functionality of the follow button is outlined here and will do exactly what you’re asking. If you follow a specific sub-forum for example Hosting then each time a new thread is posted in that sub forum you’ll receive a notification.
