This is more of an Alpha release than a beta but I figured I would open this up for folks and if it gains enough interest I will expand on it.

Get the Wayback Machine Downloader/Restoration application you can use to download complete copies of websites as they appear on web.archive.org. Paste in a link you want to restore `https://web.archive.org/web/20210314021115/example.com` click Next, and wait for the restore to finish.

This will download only 1 file at a time.

If there's enough interest I will develop additional features.

NOTE: These files are currently unsigned so installing on Windows and MacOS might popup warnings when trying to install.

My apologies if this is a primitive app but it gets the job done. Any slowness you experience is likely caused by the web.archive server. Sometimes they are snappy, other times they are dog slow.

I will work on code signing the app in a future release because I know people will have issues installing.

Let me know what features you guys want and need and I will look at getting it in there. I have a ton of ideas for this but want feedback before moving forward.

Thanks for share. :) I tried it for a small website, had approx 50 pages in it. It worked pretty good, little bit slow though.

is there a way to upload the html directly to a wordpress post? or how would be the easiest way to upload the content to the web?
copy and paste?

Excellent and anticipated question. I have always scripted this process by going through all of the html files in the restored directory and parsing out the content of each page and then using the WorsPress API to create a page or post. This feature will someday make it into this application but until then, there isn’t an easy way to get the content into WordPress.

For the static html generated by this you can upload the entire restore directory contents to the root of your website and simply serve the static content. If you just want the content it’s probably easier to copy and paste what you want unless you can script something.
 
I've not used it yet, but is there any way in which it could be used to scrape just the expired content, as opposed to the whole web files?

Realised you might have just slightly answered this above. It can take a considerable amount of time to do that manually, especially if a site has a lot of good content.

this was working very well until a few weeks ago - maybe you will find some inspiration there.

it was enough to give the input as "domain.com" - and that tool was downloading every page with the correct structure.

I've just tried yours - but it's missing important site parts, like "wp_content" for WP.
