Thanks for the suggestions, I will look into testing Yoast because seems to be a well known source

I use to install loads of plugins but more recently I've been using as few plugins as possible to keep load speeds fast.
I like:
W3T cache
Better WP Security
GAnalytics
XML Sitemap
Search Meter is also nice on larger sites to see what visitors are searching for and then building new content based on that.

all-in-one Webmaster (This is so you can be ranked on other engines like BING and YAhoo)
super simple contact form (nice and easy contact form for any page on your wordpress site)
wp html compression (this will compress your site so it loads a lot quicker)

3> SEO Smart Links (set no-follow attributes and custom keyword lists)
4> Google XML Sitemap Generator (xml sitemap generation)
