Best Wordpress Themes and Plugins for a new blog?

Evening all! Im just wondering on what people recommend regards to wordpress themes and plugins for a blog style website. Ill be creating a lot of review style posts plus many articles and general posts. Want something clean but with enough features and im terrible at deciding about this kind of thing, the website will be built around 2040 if im left to my own devices.

Does anyone recommend any particular plugins for a blog style website or just plugins in general for wordpress?

Any opinions and recommendations would be much appreciated. Currently got the Astra theme for WP but want a few options.

Yoast SEO, Akismet, Elementor, MonsterInsights, Wordfence and WordPress Classic Editor are good plugins.

Make sure to update regularly.

Brilliant, thank you for that! I have some WP experience from 7/8 years back but just changing over from Wix as in all honesty the amount of nulled and free WP stuff you can get on here and elsewhere is awesome. Plus far more customisation than Wix.

Neve was one of the themes I was thinking of using! Got Astra but will definitely look into all 3!

I got akismet, just looking into Yoast but have some other options and will definitely checkout the classic editor! Thank you for your recommendations!

Thank you for the suggestions! I might stick with Astra for now and then have the Extra theme as backup. Will check out generate press though!
 
I love Soledad (from ThemeForest). It's clean and full of options, so you can customize it to your heart's content.

Astra and newspaper are good themes for a blog style website. Both are used for multiple website it is good performed.
 
There are many WordPress themes and plugins available for a new blog. If you're looking to start a blog then you can consider with those wp theme like GeneratePress,Astra, OceanWP, and Neve and those are all lightweight, customizable,fast loading and user-friendly as well . and for plugin it actually depends . plugin will add some functionality to your site . but in a basic you can consider yoast SEO, Elementor, Wordfence,Formentor .which could be helpful for your as a starter
 
Astra is a great theme to start with, why do you want to experiment with other themes? As mentioned, generatepress is another great theme but you should focus on the content and not the design. A beautiful website won't bring you traffic, you should get the bare minimum and later you can make it look pretty when you have visitors.

Astra is good. But I recommend GeneratePress too.
Have the basic se of plugins that include - Akismet, Yoast and Redirection. Usage of other plugins depend exclusively on your requirement.
 
There is not and has never been such a thing. A theme its a theme. Period.
 
Generate press. But after you have added ads, you will have to test with different themes.
