I am focusing only on white hat SEO methods and wanted to ask what is currently working best for building backlinks.

Are guest posts still effective, or should I focus more on niche edits, HARO, or digital PR?

I want long term results without risking penalties. Would love to hear real experiences and strategies that are working right now for sustainable growth.

From what I’ve seen, guest posts still help if they’re relevant, but they’re not as powerful on their own anymore. I’d lean toward mixing a few solid placements with good content.

From what I am seeing, digital PR is the strongest long term play right now earning editorial links beats manual placements. Guest posts still work, but only on real, relevant sites. Overall, quality, relevance, and link context matter far more than volume today.
 
it's totally about genuine value and relationships, because you're getting actual brand mentions from real journos, which is just pure gold for long-term growth
 
digital pr and high quality guest posts are still king, haro is getting too crowded now.
 
guest posts still work imo, but id push back a little on lumping haro in with the other stuff as if its on the same level. haro specifically got me a ******** link from a Forbes contributor piece last year after about 6 weeks of consistent pitching, maybe 3-4 pitches a week and that single link moved a product page i had sitting on page 3 up to position 6 within a month. the catch is haro is brutal for response rates, like genuinely maybe 5-8% of my pitches ever got picked up, so its slow but the link quality just doesnt compare to a standard guest post on some DR40 blog

As a beginner, I’d focus on guest posting and HARO. Both seem safe and effective. Building quality content and getting natural backlinks looks like the best long-term strategy.
