I found a Clickbank offer that I would like to promote with PPC. Now what is the best way to start... Should I direct link? Or should I create a simple review/informational page that links to the offer. I'm assuming I will get more conversions if I do email marketing, but I don't want to jump into that just yet.

Why not do both, direct link plus split test a few landing pages. After a few days, ditch the underperforming landers and then create different versions of the winning ones. Continue testing and optimizing.
