Best Way to boost subs through Instagram Giveaway?

Does someone have experience doing an Instagram giveaway to boost subs on a youtube channel? I've heard many people say it's a good avenue to gain subscribers but I'm not exactly sure of the logistics.

The best way I can think of doing it, is to make a requirement to comment on the post with your YouTube name so that I can verify they actually subscribed?

Appreciate any insights.
