Hey BHW buddies :)

I'd like to know the best software for website translation?

Our main research site has about 50-100 pages and we want a solution in which the user selects his language in the 1st page and then rest of his session is auto-translated to the language he chose on the 1st page?

Earlier Google translate was doing this, but google translate script fails every few months and we are tired of constantly updating the script. And now it wont translate rest of the pages, unless we add the script to all of them..

Any other translator service?

PS - We tried microsoft translator.. its pretty lame. We don't mind buy a nice website translator software. However, we use HTML and no Wordpress

If translation matters much for you, then my suggestion is that you create some sub-domains to allocate these languages to your site, this way the visitor will have the option to choose the language as they wish by only in clicking on the links available, that will take them to the appropriate language.

The pages with the languages will be already translated and you will translate all the content that will come in the future. This is way your site will be very pro. And you won't mind about translation in real time when the visitor comes to your site.

But this is only to give a pro look to the users.

Many sites don't worry about it unless they have branches in different countries around the world, so the translation is really necessary.

Yea we have a genuine medical equipment client that deals online and desperately wants the research be easily translated by various affiliates, professors, doctors, etc. Creating a seperate site and updating them everytime he makes a small change will indirectly lead to my own death (as his web-bitch).

so please advise something other than google translate that wont change the code automatically without informing me every month and have the client screaming that it doesnt work any more.

also something that can be inserted on the frontpage and auto translates the entire session on the site. coz the client likes to make many pages and expects the translator to magically appear on all of them. this was happening with google before but it has stopped it seems.

thanks again for ur time

Unfortunately, I don't know any other product or company that offers similar service as Google and Microsoft. Since you tried both of them I'm out of suggestions.

But you can consider the following, you said that you are not using Wordpress, well, I think you should because Wordpress has many plugins that can make this task for you, without hassle. This seems to be the best option.

Here is my Wordpress plugin recommendation for you:

-Global Translator

Okay my client finally opted for gtranslate.net enterprise edition.. it looks like it does everything pretty well :)

Never heard about it. But it looks that it is having some problem with its server.

I suggest you integrate the Google Translator in your page

If you care about quality of your content please don't use translation software. I don't know which language you want to translate to but with Spanish for example, software translation from any language looks absolutely awful. Quality human translation is well worth the extra few back in most of the cases.

There are so many tools are available by which you may do like this. You can do it easily by using google translator. You also can use something like excite or some thing like rikaichan. These tools are really handy in this situation.

The good thing about gtranslate enterprise version is that, it automatically creates 50 sites with all pages of your mothersite translated to the languages. After that you can visit each site they have setup for you, for ex, ru.yoursite.com and then use their language edit tools and edit the translated texts very easily.

the tools u are suggesting is for end-user to use. you dont want to take chance with the end user or potential customer not having these translation tools at her/his disposal! Your site should be able to give such translations if you serious about product marketing to new territories.

also, google bastards had a nice translator which could be installed and it would translate any links clicked on the page as well.. but now google bastards have closed this service, instead 3rd party vendors are accessing google api for a price to provide the same service again.. what a global rip off man..

Yea there server sucks! it does not store your site content on its server, instead it translates in real-time and spews out untranslated texts for large amount of text pages.. they suggest we build a script to visit all our site pages in all the languages again and again, till the server thinks this is important and permanently stores your content on their server.
Their support and developers are quite rude as to why every client should spend money again on writing a script to make their service work... the world these days... :(
