The best tool I use is free.

I'm talking about Google's autocomplete feature on their search box.

When you go to Google, just type in your keyword and the letter a, which will trigger questions or related topics to go into Google regarding your keyword.

Pick the most relevant of the queries and write it down.

Next, go on to b, then c, and d, and before you know it, you get a list of tightly-connected topics that you can then write on.

Some people go to the extra step of taking those keyword topics and filtering them through paid SEO tools like Semrush.

That might work if you want to avoid competition.

But usually, the more targeted your question is, the less competition there is.

It depends on the kind of site you want to build.

If you want to build a high-authority site, you shouldn't care about keyword difficulty.

You only have to focus on answering all the questions your target audience would be interested in.

I just discovered Keywordchef recently. And its cooking very nice long-tail keywords for me. I use it with Ubersuggest lifetime deal I got. Pretty affordable.

So you think typing the entire alphabet (for each keyword of the dozens you may have) is the most effcient way to perform keyword research?
