    Hello.

I have a site that links to tv shows on rapidshare, megaupload etc. The domain is currently a .c*m .After having read about similar sites having their domains confiscated by US authorities I would like to change my TLD to one that has no association with the US or any US based companies such as Verisign. I have been thinking about the .to .ph .me and .in extensions. Please let me know your thoughts on these or perhaps additional TLDs that could be considered.
    Thanks.

Most any TLD in a country other than USA should do.

    Root Zone Database

    Enjoy ..... :cool2:

You still have to be careful. For example the .tv tld is for the islands of Tuvalu. The domain however is currently operated by dotTV, a Verisign company; the Tuvalu government owns twenty percent of the company. Verisign are US based so they would I imagine still have the ability to confiscate the domain if necessary. With all the rubbish coming up about SOPA I would like to make sure that the domain I register has completely no ties to the US. I will even avoid using a US based domain registrar. If anyone has any recommendations on what will be a safest bet for the tld going into the future please post away.
    Thanks.

The root zone database link that I gave links to ALL TLDs and you can click on the link
for a given TLD and it has ALL information associated with it which you can clearly
see anything associated with the USA.

    Enjoy ..... :cool2:

Totally avoid all UK domain names like co.uk, org.uk . The new terms and conditions of Nominet say you do not own the domain name, you can only use it as long as they allow it and they can suspend it at anytime.even domains that have never been online have been suspended, basically its just censorship. Do a search for nominet domain seizures.

I've noticed that .EU domains are flourishing in the movie/TV niche lately, particularly a few that were recently shut down at their .com predecessors.
