Best "Subscribe" Widget

I've been searching for the last few days on some good widgets that I can put on my Wodpress to get people to enter their email and subscribe. I am trying to build a large email list that I hope to use for potential JVZoo and Clickbank launches related to my niche. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what widgets I should get? I am looking for ones that are FREE but I can afford a few bucks here and there if needed.

Also, I was reading that there are some serious laws/fines that come with sending out mass emails. Does anyone have any feedback/suggestions from personal experiences as to what I need to do to make sure I don't get in hot water?

Really all I am looking for is a plugin that lets me put a widget on my site where users can enter their email. I don't necessarily need to be able to send emails through the plugin, i just want to log emails.
