I'd suggest WP Rocket and for some fine-tuning I also bought Asset CleanUp Pro: Page Speed Booster but I'm only using the file exclusions from this plugin. Also a custom theme is the best if you want to reach a good speed metric.

* Use cloudflare
* Don't use sliders/carousels (they seem to have ZERO value and they slow down your site - https://yoast.com/opinion-on-sliders/)
* Optimize your images (WP Smush or Imagify). But I LOVE resizeimage.net

Not really. WP rocket will tell you if you're using autoptimize for minifying your css. You probably don't need autoptimize as WP rocket can minify your files.
For me though, using the aggregation feature of autopimize seems to increase the speed. So I have both.
