Best Place To Live Abroad?

Hello fellow BHW members,

I just wanted to know your thoughts on the best place to live abroad. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while and have done a decent amount of research on but always enjoy getting input from as many people as possible.

A little background info: I'm currently living in San Diego and like it here a lot, I love the beach, surfing and night life so would like to go some place that is atleast somewhere near the ocean and has a decent night life. I would also prefer to go somewhere where english isn't the first language so I could start learning another language.

You can try Jaco in Costa Rica or San Juan Del Sur in Nicaragua. Both towns are small, located on Pacific coast, with lots of good surfing spots around, some nightlife and with locals speaking spanish.
 
Australia is extremely nice. 20's generation people are a bit.. arrogant, extremely alpha male and just rude(don't take my word on it since haven't lived there more than a year, haven't had much variance maybe to get the full picture).., but everything else is extremely nice. Germany is also very nice, all the people are nice over there I feel like. No matter where you are, getting to the countryside is fast, I enjoyed that particularly. Can't think of more places with personal experiences that I'd recommend.
 
I am pretty happy by staying in Thailand, everything is cheap, nice people, beautiful girls and good weather :)

I personally want to live and experience many different cultures. The idea is to make money to the point where you no longer have to work behind a desk because the money is just recurring.

It depends on several issues.

Mainly
1. Geographical prefences
2. Your income amount and source.
 
Spain, France, Portugal are probably your best when it comes to surfing and nightlife.
Speaking from experience, I'm surfing as well.
 
Visit Philippines, South Korea, Brazil, Australia, Thailand. Those are on my list :)
 
South of france :) Yeah dubai is very nice also, like the athmosphere
 
you will want to pick a country based on their taxation laws. Territorial tax laws would be perfect. Living as a PT is not as easy as it was used to.
 
Oh man this is a question I ask myself everyday.. I live in Shanghai at the moment which is really nice but the pollution is just too bad. I've lived in the UK, France, Egypt, Greece, and China now, and for now my favorite was Greece although I lived there in the 90s, there was none of this EU financial dictatorship issues..\


Now I'm thinking South East Asia, Australia, or possibly Canada... US must be pretty cool but I don't feel very comfortable about the guns stuff...
 
As long as you dont live in the ghetto you wont have to worry about being killed in the U.S.
 
Do any of you have resources on how to move to another country? Step by step about what to take.

I plan to move every two years. Perhaps a bit too aggressive for a starter, but it has always been my dream.

Is there any money, skill or personal requirements a country needs?
 
How old are you guys ? I mean there is a moment in life that we can't move so easily.... I'm 28, i feel i'm getting old :(

It depends on the country, some countries only want immigrants that work such as the U.S, but others are more lenient and will let anyone in with money.

well i mean that's the difference with the rest of the world.. i think in pretty much any country you can get murdered if you live in the ghetto (well, at least in France, these gangs have grenades and assault rifles in the cupboard), but USA I feel that even going to school or going to the cinema, you are exposed to psychopaths with guns. At least in other countries, the psychopaths don't have the right to carry rifles with them...
