Most registrars will not let good domains expire. They'll pick it up and auction it off on sites like Namejet.com or Godaddy auctions.

I use DHG and it gives what i need. There may be more good one than this.

If your friend is asking you $15-20 per good domain go for it. The reality is that you will lose so much time trying to scrape for domains that is not worth it at all.
