Best method to accept $3k payment for services?

I run an offline/online business and I charge clients for my professional services. I have always been paid via wire transfer, how a new client wishes to pay by credit card (I am assuming because they want some recourse).

I do not have the facilities to accept credit card payment, but am considering accepting payment via Paypal or Moneybookers.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but i have never accepted payment via these methods for anything over $100, and I am just wondering what is the best way to accept $3k. I have heard horror stories about PP, so it makes me a little nervous. Doesnt have to be PP or MB, but i have verified accounts there, nowhere else.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Stay far FAR away from Paypal, haha. If the client is local you should definitely check out Square. Just google "Square payments".
 
PayPal is fine as long as you don't have more than $10,000 in your account at any one given time. Also, clients are happy to mail you a check. It's the normal business procedure anyway.
 
The horror stories about PP are few and far between and processing $3K in PP is chicken feed

MegaUpload processed $175 Million USD through paypal in 7 years

Use it if you are all legal you will have no problems
 
Paypal will take a chunk outta that money, and might even hold that money up because they have suspicions. I recieved $1200 through them in white hat, and they limited my account, held the money for 90 days, and gave it back to my customer. It was the biggest hit I ever took online, AND that was about 8 years ago. I heard they aren'nt as nice :(

Megaupload is/was a trusted site. And we are all individuals. They have their own website about the BS paypal tries to pull. Google:Paypal Sucks
 
Why no one use Google Wallet aka Google Checkout ? They have the same things like PP
 
Just get a merchant account like every other offline business does. I had one. You can take anyones CC have it processed secure and fast.
 
Thanks for the replies. My business is legit, whitehat - i have nothing to hide. I don't really want to set up a merchant account, because i really have no need for it. As i said, i have always been paid via wire. This is just a one off.

I just want to ensure that once the money is deposited, i can withdraw it immediately with no problems, as the funds are partly used to pay contractors for services to the client.

Ask your client to pay you via Western Union or Wire transfer you
 
if you decided to use paypal, please make sure you are perepare all document related and place it on safe place. in beginning ussualy paypal will give you some limitation to receive or send money. to release this limitation you need to call paypal and they will ask you some document like ID, utility bills, and some document about your transaction like invoice, shipping note, tracking number etc.

I hate paypal regulation. but i still use it right now. they have smooth process for accepting from credit cards or other payment and sending money to your banks.
They also detected delayed payment, just like people ordering using over-limit cards, so you can delay shipping until payment clear.

please make sure you registered using premiere account or merchants and not personal. they will shave every payment receive arounf 3.6%, cmiiw

I don't think anyone would ever send money via western union without first having the item in their possession.
I would just use an escrow.

These are trusted payment processors. Pick one that suits your business.

authorize.net is not a payment processor. They are just an online gateway, you still need a merchant account for the money to go into.

Dude, Google Checkout is by far the BEST payment processor in the world. I use them to process all my payments. A very great and often overlooked payment processor. They KILL Paypal anyday.
