Best Laptop Ever

Do you get January sales in Canada? I usually upgrade every year on January and you get brand new laptops going for 50% of the price.

For that price it's really good! Don't go with those crappy Mac's - you just pay for brand, They Opperating system SUCKING SUCKS and you can get laptop with way better specs for the money what mac needs!

Are you kidding?

I own both Mac,(two new iMac's) and Windows Vista Machines, and there is really no comparison between the two operating systems. OSX is awesome! :D

For mid price laptops you can't go wrong with dell. Great support and decent build quality. I got my dell laptop for about the same ammount 2 years ago, she's still going strong and I couldn't be happier.

If you aren?t limiting your search to just Sony VAIOs, a great resource to check out might be you this new application from Microsoft called ?Laptop Scout,? which is designed to help people find the computer that best fits their needs and budget. Here?s a link:

microsoftdotcom/windows/windows-laptop-scout/defaultdotaspx (replace the "dot" with a period ".")

Just go to the site and enter what kind of things you?re looking for in a laptop (or just your budget restrictions) and it?ll provide you with a list of potential PCs that might match your specifications.
That page will also provides links to Cnet.com reviews, so you can browse through a bunch of professional reviews and check out what other folks say about certain computers while you shop. If you?re locked in on a Sony, don?t worry-- here are definitely links to a couple of different VIAO models on the site, as well.
If you can get a little more cash together than the $800 you mentioned, a good match might be the Sony VIAO FW355. It retails at around $1129.99, and comes with 4 GB of RAM and a built-in Blu-Ray drive. For a little cheaper, you could go with the VAIO CS190, (it fits your budget at $749.99)but it has a little less RAM and a smaller screen. Either one of those would be a great value for your money.
Definitely go to the site and compare between the different models, and maybe even look at some of the other brands there. You might find a few that match up well with what you want. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I work on and repair a lot of different types/brands of machines. If you can pony up the money, mac is probably the way to go b/c you can still run windows through bootcamp if you need. They are also very high quality.
That said, there are a number of really good PCs out there. I have mixed feelings about Dell b/c I feel that the low end lack the build quality of the latitude and precision lines. Their support really can't be beat though (yes, i like it more than apple). The best deals I've seen though have been at tigerdirect and newegg on these refurb gateways. if you're will to go refurb (i always am b/c i feel they are hand inspected rather than just boxed and shipped) they have had some great $500 deals. i actually got one for my dad and he loves it. gloss screen, hdmi, dvd-rw, 320gb, 4gb.
sign up for their newsletter to get the best deals though.

IF you go through hp, you can build you're own laptop and save more than newegg at the same time..

I traded in my laptop for a netbook and really hating the change.. I may just end up getting a laptop from hp..

on a serious note: get a used xps 13, those are superb.

Yeah MAC, and you won't run any seo software on this overpriced machine. Forget about xrumer, gsa and 1000s of other useful apps

But still, almost everyone gets a mac! I almost brought one but then decided for XPS and its been 2 years now and no regrets.

Parallels is your friend if you have a Mac.

I'm not going to disagree on it being more expensive than most would think is reasonable but you can run any windows applications using parallels.

Get a Dell G5. It's 800 right now and it has a 6 core 8750h and a GTX 1050Ti( the config I saw on Amazon).

Anybody that tells you that a 3+ year old Mac book with a dated processor and non upgradeable ram/hard drive is the best you can do for 800...is delusional. Perhaps they are forgetting that they are playing $200 for the apple name alone so a MacBook that sells for 800 isn't worth more than 600.

For comparison:
A MacBook with similar specs will run you $1600 (2018 MacBook pro)

If you need Mac OS and willing to accept lower performance, by all means get a MacBook but if you want the best for your buck, a windows laptop is the way to go.

Other options:
Acer aspire 7
Acer helios 300 (a powerhouse for $100 more)
Msi gl63
Lenovo Y530
Dell Inspiron 15 7588

Isn't that kinda like buying a (bass tracker) boat, then converting it to a car for driving? Or maybe I'm just so sour on Apple that I can't give it justice. :anyway:

Get a dell inspiron 1525. I got it for exactly $800 by bargaining on the phone here is what it includes

core 2 duo 2.2 ghz
4gb ram
bluetooth
15.4" screen
250 gb HD

this laptop is very good, i've had no problems with it, its lightweight, its smooth and can use this all day w/o problems

What?? You can get this specs for a $400 laptop.

For $800 the least you can expect should be i5 , 8Gb ram, 500GB - 1 Tb HDD or 256-512gb ssd, and a decent Nvidia graphic card.

depends what your using it for. Plus, you want to know if its upgradeable
