Best host for a WP blog?

Hey guys,

I noticed that Dreamhost has special WP hosting... I was just wondering if anyone has had a chance to check them out? Also what's the best host you've had a regular blog on?

There is WPEngine, DreamHost, Bluehost, Hostgator. a better question would be what is the best host because any hosting that support php can run WordPress those special WordPress hosting packages are just promotional method to attract more sales. i use digitalocean ssd cloud vps hosting. i install everything myself from nginx web server to mysql..to WordPress.

Exactly this, nothing more than another way for them to sell their same ol' shared web hosting.

WPEngine will be the only real exception, they do things a little differently.

I would checkout stablebox.com, I use them to host one of my WP sites that gets ~60K uniques a day. With a decent caching plugin it runs nice and smooth.

How experienced are you with server management? If you have the experience to manage your own VPS, in my opinion the best setup would be: 1) Get an unmanaged VPS 2) Install Apache/Nginx/PHP/MySQL/DNS, ect 3) Setup WordPress 4) Optimize all of your VPS's software accordingly to fit your needs.

With a VPS you can tweak and configuration all of the settings to best fit you. This isn't necessarily possibly to do with a shared hosting account.

That is more than what most people can handle, at least them handling it properly.

All you need is to setup your own vps, poorly manage it and get everything hacked.

Servinio, Powerup hosting, Inmotion hosting.. there are many.

But stay away from Hostgator and Godaddy. 100% shit.

Any webhost nowadays can handle wordpress if you won't overload it with multiple plugins. I can name Kvchosting.com solutions as suitable for your needs.

I have done a case study on WpEngine and Sitegorund, and Sitegorund offer the same speed as WpEngine at a lower price and allow more websites, Feel free to check it out in my signature.

Nothing constructive will really come out of this thread. Your question is too basic and contains no specific information.
Asking what host to run a Wordpress blog on is like asking what computer to run notepad on - it runs on everything.

1. Not at all Hostgator.
2. Hostwinds ( My recommendation )
3. Try out hosting packages from our BHW members in the marketplace, they are great too.

I would say hostgator for the quick install feature + they are allways up at least for me anyway.

Hostwinds is a Good Hosting for Wordpress.

If your site brings in enough revenue to justify the cost, WPEngine is definitley the most legit WP hosting service.

This is partially true because even WPEngine are using shared servers, they just have their own fancy panel so they brand out on that which means customers end up paying higher amount.

But when it comes to choosing the correct host, the following points need to be taken into consideration
(The following suggestion applies to all kinds of hosting types from Shared Hosting to Dedicated Server, but I'm specifically talking about the Shared Hosting below):

- What kind of Hardware is the company using, when I'm talking about hardware, a customer should look for the type of CPU, Hard Drive and the amount of resources (RAM & CPU) allocated to them on the shared hosting environment.

- Now let's talk about software, does the server comes with any special software that could speed up their performance? Panels? One Click installers?

- What's the Network Port Speed?

- Do they have automated backups?

- Does the server comes with Redundant Disk incase of failure?

- Is the Support 24x7?

- Are you a reseller? (Be cautious if you're buying any kind of hosting from a reseller because they do not have 100% control over there, specially incase of hardware failure).

The technology is advancing and it's very important for a customer to go with SSD based hosting in this modern era of hosting, since the IOPS (Input/Output Per Second) are insane on SSDs, the read and write operations would be faster than the normal Hard Drive thus improving your website performance.

The above were some of the general questions.

My vote goes to Servikus, they have a BST here. Personally, I moved all my sites to them, I will never regret this decision, I've never had shared hosting where my websites would load in under 1 sec.
I've tried several hosts before (mostly from EIG), all were crap or close to crap, I suggest you avoid them.

I have used many hosting , but all goes down when they get traffic but namecheap is great i am using it from more then 1 year and have no problem with them . after purchasing Namecheap Shared hosting never contact Support for any problem .

If you are starting out in IM get a unlimited shared hosting, where you can host all your sites. But I would recommend a VPS.

I don't know about the rest . but Host gator has done pretty well for me.

I switched from 1and1 to BlueHost about a year ago and love it.
