Hey guys,

I'm planning to move to Europe, what are the best cities for online marketers in Europe? (please note that I'm not gonna only work from home, I'll actually get an office and hire people).

What I'm looking for basically is a nice city with many online marketers/ad networks.

Help would be appreciated (in case I moved - 3 beers on me ;) ).

I think the major problem you will face - people in most European countries do not speak English though in recent days most of the know but they don't want to speak, rather they prefer their own language. Specially in Germany, Austria and in the Eastern European countries you will find very few people who would speak English with you.

I would suggest Amsterdam, not only because I live here since the last three years but for many reasons such as almost everyone here knows and speaks english, you will not face any difficulty anywhere, setting up a company and hiring people will be very easy. Moreover it is a beautiful city, good people, good food, good weather, high speed internet - what else do you need?

On the negative side, higher BTW/tax rate might be an issue but it totally depends on how you conduct your business. Also you might get tax relief for the first two years (as far as I can remember) as a fresh entrepreneur here.

It is simple:
- Pick a country with low taxes;
- You love living near the beach? There's a toon of cities;
- Be aware that English isn't the native language around Europe but if you pick a place with loads of Tourism it wont be a problem.

Never been there but I know Romania has a lot. What are you looking for? Cheap labour and people with IT/internet knowledge? Spain might be a decent option too as there is so much unemployment there at the moment.

Cyprus can be possible a good choice, everyone speaks English, you can set up a business there very easy.
UK is an option too if the language is a issue for you. Otherwise if the cost of living and salaries are your main concerns then eastern or southern Europe might be a better choice.

Finland ;) We've got... ah... hot blondes! No wait that's the Swedish. Um, a lot of water for you to fall into when drunk?

No but seriously, I love it here for the reason that Finns are less into scams and more into working hard for their money. And people can manage with the English language here no problem. Might sound a bit rude to you (Finns usually don't know how to use the word please), but then again we are tough people who have been fighting polar bears for centuries, while living in igloos and raising wolf puppies and what not.

But on a more serious note, a LOT of highly qualified employees around waiting for that perfect job, and a lot of people graduating every year. So the quality of the workforce is very high here, but then again, the costs are higher than say in Romania.

And seeing that the ex-Nokia workers are being hacked off of a job (Thank you Microsoft), there seems to be a number of highly qualified IT experts with a lot of experience around.

I think the Czech Republic is an awesome and underestimated country but then again my opinion might be influenced by cheap beer and hot girls.

Thanks a lot for the replies everyone:) I'm thinking Berlin would be a good place.. Anyone here living there?

German law and taxes are a single nightmare for internet marketers. And for you planning to actually hire people it will be even worse. If you don't mind about spending over 50% of your income for taxes, tax advisors and lawyers, then you might be able to enjoy it :D

Go to Malta, a lot of gaming and xxx companies here. all English speaking, nice weather and low tax.

Hey man, thanks for the reply.
Corporate tax in Germany doesn't look that bad if it's correct here http://www.kpmg.com/global/en/servi...esources/pages/corporate-tax-rates-table.aspx

Around 29%, less than most places I'm comparing to.

P.S. In Malta it's about 35%

Malta and Cyprys are both good options! Nice weather and language should not be a problem

Best response ever!
