HI all
Which platform would you recommend for an ecommerce store?
Prestashop, opencart or wordpress.
Is there a place to download addons for prestashop like festingers vault? Just for opencart or prestashop?
Thanks!!

WooCommerce or Shopify for sure.

WooCommerce is cheaper, Shopify is simpler :) Your choice mate

I dont want a platform like shoppify, i want one that i host myself

If you decide to use prestashop I can get you access to some of their themes and plugins if you choose to go that route.

WooCommerce is fine and has a lot of options. That's my choice just because of its popularity and how quickly you can begin selling.

We use Prestashop... It went to shit at V1.5.... 1.6 and 1.7 .... I find 1.7.4.2 although old if you patch things your self from git I've found it to be the better and more stable version I'm running on php 7.1 as well AGAIN most stable for that system at the moment..

I been using them since version 1.2 - it's come a long way changed a bunch of times not always for the better, the forum is a good resource.

I do access to some theme as well if you get stuck from Leo Theme maybe I should add them on BHW :)

Is it like festingers vault? That you pay a subscription and access themes and plugins? I saw that prestashop addons are super expensive

magento if you want to go big or wordpress if you want something fast and reliable to some point.

If you do have technical knowledge you can consider using Wordpress+WooCommerce Plugin or Magneto etc. If you are not extremely affluent in coding or the usage of these CMS, Shopify is a very good(though rather expensive) alternative, where you can drag and drop everything to create your website with much lesser efforts.

P.S: While Wordpress claimed to be an open-source website builder, I failed to comprehend that since every single theme, plugin and such almost always have a price tag.

In my opinion it is rather extensive, since there are many different plugins to get familiar with. If you do not have much experience in website front-end programming and back-end processing. Shopify is a rather easy way out, and their SEO options etc are rather comprehensive.

I suggest you factor in the fact that almost all payment processing platforms such as Paypal/Stripe etc will charge you a payment processing fee for every time a transaction is completed on your platform. The only method I know of that have zero transaction fees are local bank transfers for some countries.

I built many sites using wordpress and built a store using opencart. I dont want platforms like shopify using my data. Is there a way to get magento for free like opencart and try to see whats going on, on a localhost?

Just install on a VPS like Amazon or Azure

If you’re even slightly technically savvy, WooCommerce is the way to go.
