Awesome thread!
Why NOT name names? That'd make your advice a lot more useful, and I've seen some really informed opinions from you elsewhere. BHW is about cutting to the chase, isn't it? And without names, your opinions here carry less meaning (although I guess it might make this thread go in a direction you didn't plan on).
Also found some of them - some well known ones - are pretty useless. A well known (perhaps the best known) article submission service has so few sites with a rank above PR3 that youd be better off posting manually.
A well known subs site with keywords is always 6 months behind with it's database. "Kindle" for example only appeared in April - at least 5 months after I got the same information from Google keywords, and long after it, and most associated keywords were stuccoing the porcelain in a saturated market.
Another (again no names) auto site builder and control system that sells for a cocking fortune has a google visible footprint the size of a small African country, and Google fecking HATES the sites it churns out, recognising them a mile off, and slapping them up-side the head the minute they are made.
