I can pretty much tell you that it's a good thing that you did it the way you did (sent them to your home and didn't try any of the 'tricks' that people mentioned here).
Let's look at a couple of them:
1) Send the products to a UPS store or other location that would sign for your packages. Uh.. hello... eventually YOU have to pick them up... or if you're clever, you can get the local paperboy to get your packages for you. More on this in a minute...
2) Send the money offshore so you 'never touch it'. Hmmm... so your money is sitting in a Swiss bank account - but if you ever bring withdraw it to the US, it IS now here and you've 'touched it'. Of course, the Swiss probably would not give out where the depost went but if at any time they find you, they'll trace your bank accounts to the Swiss account and complete the picture. How do they find you? Is your hosting overseas? How about when you registered your domain? How about how you paid for that domain (paypal?, US Credit card?)... If you make ONE mistake, forget to use that proxy ONE time, the feds could find you.
Now... back to what I was saying about the mailbox. The company found you easily and that probably saved you. If they didn't find you, they would have turned it over to the Feds - and if it's big enough money, the Feds will eventually track you down. Remember that mailbox? You or the paperboy would go to pick up your packages and as you open the mailbox you would hear the rush of lots of people entering the location, guns drawn. If it's the paperboy picking up the packages for you, how long do you think it would take him to shit his pants and start screaming your name?
About the only way I would EVER consider doing something like this, would be if I lived in a country that didn't respect the US Copyrigtht laws... but since I still enjoy being a US citizen and living here, guess I'm not going to be doing that anytime soon.
I'm glad that you managed to work out a deal and it looks like that will be the end of this ordeal. It looks like you're learning the lesson too... BH is fine when the worst you're looking at is losing money and time invested when they close your account - but not worth it when you could be looking at time behind bars.
