Being rich in the 3rd world

in a few years hopefully italy is going to drop to poverty and then I will get to live in a 3rd world country like yours :)

This aversion toward wealth only exist in the wealthy Western world. In third world countries, rolling up in an expensive car earns you respect. In the third world, guys work their asses off to make money and then go around looking for a wife. Like they're going to "buy" her now that they can afford a house and a car. Needless to say, the women expect this as well.

You are thinking in terms of the bleeding heart Western attitude. "Oh, all those poor people, how could anyone wealthy live among them?" The wealthy don't care. All poor people care about is money. They don't have time to think of how to be a good person.

Do you guys think its possible for someone in IM to become one of the richest persons in a "3rd world" country without getting noticed by forbes.

You would not want to tell them. They receive their knowledge from mandatory reports people have to file when they run for public office or when they own majority stakes in publicly traded companies. They can't look into accounts.

I guess its possible to make a couple of Billions by trading options from a latop in Bora Bora and nobody would ever notice except for your bank or broker in Hong Kong.

I was discussing this the other day with a friend. If I were filthy rich I wouldn't let anyone know. You keep the fame but I'll keep the fortune kthx. The thing that sucks about the U.S. is that tax records are made public so if you have a billion dollars everyone will know.

here in the philippines workers make $9-$10/day. so if your making $5000 permonth.. your close being millionaire here =))

Haha this is true, kabayan. They will not however think you're a snob, though they will tease you a lot for being rich/a step higher than their economic status. Us flips are crazy that way.

I am living in a third world country.
I suggest that if you are not born here. You will need to adjust a lot. Our culture is very different from a 1st world country.
In my country, MONEY = POWER
if you have money, you have power.
I suggest you stay in your home town. :)

having lived in multiple latin american 3rd world countries after leaving the u.s. i have to disagree with most of what i'm hearing. these countries all have strong expat communities, great/cheap health care, english spoken everywhere, first class food. i mean, lets put it this way - i made 150k per year or so in the u.s. before real estate tanked. here in the south i make only 24k online per year and my standard of living is much much higher than it was in the states. maids, massues (professional), huge parties, i work four hours per day, no phone, no bills, no reason to own a car - taxis are cheap and everywhere. there are many people like me here and the only thing we all have in common is that we never want to go home again, yup, all of our shitholes have wireless high speed internet, hbo and everything else.

Developed county is Asia have the same benefit too.
(well at least my country a more develop than Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia etc)
Fresh grad with bachelor degree here earns less than 10k per year
Sound like a cheap labor but they still manage to have a good standard of live
(drive a beemer, travel across Asia etc)
and yeah, broadband, cables and party in the weekends too!

Well I live part time in the Philippines and would be concidered very rich even though I am not. i make a good living from a real job and my internet attempts are comming along very slowly.

There is good and bad of being so called rich in a poor country. You are instantly treated with a high degree of respect but you also instantly become a target for every scam. It also makes it almost impossible to make real friends with the locals because 99.9% of them are just there because they want something from you or will eventually.

With everything in life, you have to take the good with the bad and worry about you not other peoples problems.

Regards

There are rich people everywhere... you have a narrow-minded reality.

There are people living like kings in somalia.

MONEY=POWER in every single country, its just in the bribery is done in different ways. In some countries you give straight out cash and gifts to the elected officials. In others such as the United States, you donate to their campaigns or do marketing for their campaigns.

Being in a 1st world country is fucking booooring.
I have no idea why would anyone want to live in USA / UK... (if they are not making at least 15k/month). Even then it is boooring.

And the ones making 3k-4k, what, Jesus, get the hell away from that boooring place :)

Eastern Europe rocks.

I live in the poor part of Europe. As my IM income is higher than 80% people from my country, even my family and friends after long explanations thinks that I'm internet criminal...
And what does it mean for me? Nothing really special, our taxes are crazy, we are pushed to live worse and worse every year. I think that there is no difference where to live, just live your life to the fullest and enjoy your life.

Well I am from India.though i hate how this governments runs in my country full(or half) of corruption.
But Still I love my country.I Think All Of You Also Love Your Countries. That's common.
My Country Has Gave Birth To many great people And now its lead by some morons.....
Which really concerns me.....

Im thinking of moving to Thailand. Anyone have experience there?
