Being Nice to Others Pays Off

Today we had a fire down the street and it caused the electricity to go out due to one of the transformers being torched.

So, I hopped in the car and went to the closest place that has wifi in my area, a McDonalds (yes my cholesterol jumped 40 points when I pulled into the parking lot).

I'm sitting there taking advantage of free internet for a couple of hours and I see one of the utility trucks for the electric company pull in.

Utility guy gets our of the truck and walks into Micky Ds and as he is walking past my table I asked if he would happen to know if the electricity was working again on my street... he told me it was fixed about 15 - 20 minutes ago as he just left the job.

I got up, shook his hand, thanked him for doing a great job and let him know I appreciate him taking care of the problem.

He says to me, "You know, I've been doing this for 23 years and nobody has ever thanked me before, that makes my day."

Do a nice thing and perhaps you'll make someone's day which would certainly make yours as his response made mine.

And here I was thinking as I read the first sentence that you went inside a burning house and rescued a child or something like that.

But yeah, thank people, ALWAYS. I always do it because I always think of treating others as I'd like to be treated.

Just wanted to say a Big Thank You to BTB, who out of nowhere a few months back contacted me via pm and gave me a couple of months FREE with his linkpushing service.

Members like BTB are an asset to BHW and it doesn't surprise me to see that he's a stand up guy in the real world, as well as online in the IM universe.

Keep that good Karma coming BTB! :You_Rock_

Great read, i like seeing these kinds of threads. Puts me in a good mood :)

In my country they are hated because electricity always crashes and it's too expansive.

greg

can you explain the differences between serpbuddy and micrositemasters??

thanks

Mate, where do you find the time????????

The early part of my work day - usually 6:00 AM -8:00 AM I do that writing... no internet, no emails, no skype, nothing.

Just pop open the laptop and give it a go.

This is one of stories like MMT ( Makes me think)

I like to read them , i can see that there are still good people around us and it makes me smile :)

In Canada it's actually a regular thing to be polite to people and appreciate what they do:D
(please don't say you're from canada and ruin this!)

Several months back my neighbors home caught fire. The FD was there in an instant it seemed. They took care of the problem, blew the smoke out of the house, and mopped up the water.

I was so impressed by their professionalism that I just had to thank them one by one for their great work. I could tell by the looks they gave me that they really appreciated someone acknowledging what they do for us.

I slept great that night...

It does come back....my signature as free advertising space for example ;). . Many a times you have made me feel like that guy Greg, you're a special person and a great business man. Thanks for sharing--will go out of my way to make someone feel good about their deeds today--pass it on.

I'm a big fan of yours, Greg.
You're a truly fantastic human being and you've seriously taught me some things that will help me in life BIG TIME, this thread being one of them.

Hats off to you!

Hey, You are awesome! It's a nice thing that there are still people like you who were existing in this world. Its a very nice feeling if you are being appreciated about your work done, whether it is a simple one. Unlike the vice versa, you will get tired of working and be uninspired. hehe. Kudos again! :D

It is always a good thing to appreciate ones work, I bet that guy works smarter and better after that scene :)
