Do you feel offended when someone calls you "an asset"?

I call people as people / person. They sometimes call me an asset.

Asset is better than "human resource". :alien:

In many cases once you don't act like a resource and more like human, they look wild at you.

West companies culture needs to be carefully dealt with.

No, I don't. Asset means you're not useless. In fact, it means you're more than useful.

I think I'm missing that an asset isn't the same as "resource" which sounds like "cog" or "tinfoil" or "brick".

In those enviroments if you're useful, people will try to use you.

Solution: Don't be useful and play the people game. Google "gervais principle" for it.

But in general just avoid such places especially in your free time. Lots of people are fed up with this and you'll find like-minded people

An asset

Formal: something that has been acquired, bought
Informal: someone newly admitted to some team, job, etc.

Slight difference. :p

Formally you've been bought!

I like to be called "a capital". Fair and better.
I misread as "capitan". And now I read again. Oh no.

This sh*t describes every experience with any company I ever had.
Except the last one as it was a calmer job. Less sociopaths there.

its great explanation. if you are called an "asset" you are probably on the clueless stage. if you become power aware you can move up.

But they call people like that on the internet: "You're a valuable asset to our community"

"the backbone of our society" = idiot that doesnt get it

:) You didn't send any link and I guess you assumed I read the same thing as you do from google search.

And I'm sick too, and hungry, so...

its 6 parts
That's a lot. I'm generation Z and it looks like it was written by someone in their 40s or 50s.

I'm 25 years old.

Well, but I will take notes from it.

Some google search says he was 35.

He's an academic as well.

I have 8 classes.

Doesnt matter. you know how to do research so that works in your favour already
It gives you that impression that... if you don't know what you're really reading about, you feel like the piece someone has written is brilliant and deserves some high class prizes. It's a mental fck up.

Reading about engineering for the first time I felt the same as reading about this management piece now.

To someone experienced in management he might be just talking nonsense. :D And being a writer, he knows how to put anything into pretty words.

Call me an asset, call me a jackwagon, call me anything you would like as long as you don't call me late for dinner.

No, being called an asset is a compliment and not meant to be anything other than that.

Joe Blow does a great job for the company, he is a real asset.

Mary Bikini keeps messing up at work and is not really an asset at all.
