BBC News google Link Penalty

This doesn't make any sense at all. Either this is a prank or Google is just losing it badly.

What will probably happen:

Google will hard-code in news websites to intercept auto-generated webmaster review sites, as well as a group of other large reputable sites to be white-listed. Google then comes out with a statement saying how Google BBC isn't affected aside from one little article that got spammed. Matt Cutts then emphasizes the point that no website has any other level of immunity as any other site, making Google look fair and unbiased.

What I wish would happen:

BBC ends up with a 30% drop in traffic and in one month a slew of BBC reporters takes up pitchforks and gives Google some well-deserved negative publicity on how they destroy mom-and-pop websites arbitrarily by algorithm due to forces beyond their control.

1. BBC links to a Payday loan company.
2. That Payday loan company begins massive link building endeavors to that page.
3. Google picks up on this, tanks *JUST THAT PAGE* in it's SERPs and ships out an unnatural link notice.
4. BBC overreacts to the reasonable response (which has costed them no traffic), Blackhatters use it as an excuse to fool themselves into believing Google is stupid and the world is once again at peace.

I love the BBC, they make some of the best programs in the world :)

i love you, no homo

With so much things going on the internet in terms of linking, this is bound to happen eventually. Same thing happened a while ago to the US version of BMW and to Forbes magazine. I actually remember Matt Cutts mentioning the spam techniques used by them in one of his Google videos.

your opinion fails epicly

Hi Nick

Looking into the details here, what happened was that we found unnatural links to an individual article, and took a granular action based on that. This is not negatively affecting the rest of your website on a whole.

Cheers
John

You must be one of the sheep as well. To think that Google does not conspire to further their wealth is a fail on your part. Just look at Google's Internet Association and you will see that they are in bed with many of the other 800lb gorillas that control most of the web's traffic. Barry Shwartz is also believed by many to be Google's stooge - conveniently releasing information to the webmaster community that mostly is supportive of Google's monopolistic power.

I suppose you believe everything Matt Cutts says as well? I'm sorry, but anyone that trusts Google is a fool. Don't follow the sheep and open up your eyes to what is going on around you.

wow.. google has to do something now.. as its not we guys(smaller ones) but its BBC.co.uk(Big Gorilla) in their cage.. if they don't treat the gorilla carefully then they will have to face the consequences of Online marketing industry!

'm just wondering, if they are trying to cover up this story now - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21879230

Don't forget that unnatural link warning is fully automated message sent by some wanna be AI.

It just shows how "perfect" G's algo is...

pretty nice thread
Large corp dominate search using BH but they sizes given then the benefice of doubt so they can spam .Tks god we have our Blackhat community that play with them
I learn a lot about IM in this forum because some people share they experience and knowledge as a community tks
in my local niche i need to compete with Yelp which is stupid and unfair since they offer paid advertizing sponsor link
and all my competitor reviews are fake and if you put a negative reviews on sponsor customer yelp administrator will contact you to ask you to remove your review because they can t have they sponsor ads have bad reviews don t forget they get $ from .....
